One of the best ways to remove toxins from the body is simple twists. (UNLESS YOUR ARE PREGNANT! DO NOT PERFORM TWISTS WHILE PREGNANT UNLESS YOU DISCUSS IT WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN.) Twisting literally wrings out the toxins in the body so that you can eliminate properly. Ideally you should not eat 2 hours before your yoga class and have a clean bowel. Outside of class, twisting can actually help you remove your bowels. Start your day with simple twists. Repeat in the middle of the day and again at night.

TWIST: Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and together. Bring your legs to the left and twist your upper body to the right. You may even use your left hand on top of your right leg to help you twist further. However, it is nice to just relax and surrender in this pose. Repeat this move to the other side. If you would prefer to sit up, then bend your left leg under you and your right leg on top with your foot flat on the floor. Point your toes straight ahead. Sit up tall, inhale, and lengthen your spine. At the same time, bring your left elbow to the outside of your right leg. As you exhale, twist to the right. Repeat this move on the other side.

Try to incorporate these simple steps into your week and notice your bodies amazing responses. Eliminating easier, sleeping deeper, feeling more clear headed, will make you an overall healthier person.
