How to Deal With Turning 30

Turning 30 is a milestone that you either embrace or run from, depending on your perspective. It is one of those landmark events that everyone seems to have an opinion about. You may be dreading turning 30.Æ equating it to the loss of supple skin, onset of responsibility and end of the last remaining semblance of youth- but there are some perks to turning older and wiser.

You Know Who Your Real Friends Are

By the time you hit 30, you’ve probably been through many of life’s ups and downs with your friends. This tightens bonds and shows you who your soul friends are. The people you don’t have a strong connection with, drift away from your inner circle. Your friends become more like family, and you form close connections that last.

You Feel Comfortable in Your Own Skin

After years of abusing your body in your twenties, through extreme diets and too many late nights, you’ll reach a point when you’re happy with yourself. You’ll accept your body for what it is and learn to dress to enhance your shape. You’ll also feel more confident and comfortable than ever.

Many of the Humdrum Things in Life are Done

By the age of 30, you’ve probably passed your driving test, found a career path and made peace with your relationship status. You’ve gotten the .≤necessary’ things that take up a lot of your time out of the way. Your thirties give you a free pass to do more random, liberating things.
So take up a hobby or two, try a cooking class, or even go skydiving!

You Realize that Most People are Still Figuring it Out

When you were younger, it seemed like people older than you always knew what to do. But as you get older, you’ll realize that everyone’s just winging it and doing the best they can. It can be incredibly liberating to realize that people are still learning from their mistakes and evolving.
Once you hit 30, you’ll stop being so hard on yourself and learn to love your life for what it is.

So if you’re turning 30 and haven’t achieved the traditional definition of “success,” don’t worry too much about it. Many of the most successful people-J.K Rowling, Julia Child, Vera Wang, Jon Hamm and Oprah to name a few-got their big breaks when they were well into their 30s. So relax and look forward to the incredible decade that’s ahead of you!
