12. Where do you think beauty trends will be 5 years from now?

Beauty will be funkier and edgier. People will have fun with colors such as lavender, pink and blue. I just came from Dubai. In the Middle East, people are obsessed with beauty. And I’ve heard in Asia there are new state of the art cosmetics.

Hair might go short, the bob, which is freedom for us because we’ve had long hair for so long. But it might go back to long. Trends come and go.

13. What is the secret to building a company?

You have to have a good team around you. If you don’t have people on the same wavelength and on the same page, it is going to be difficult. You need to have people around you that are going to support you and believe in you. I’m lucky because I work with my husband, my 2 girlfriends and my staff and they all know what my dreams are and they push me.

For anyone who wants to do what I do, the most important thing to be aware of is not to get confused when you see the glamour and the fun. It is important to have a good work ethic. Get up early in the morning. Be able to go long hours into the night. I’ve had one day off since the New Year. But at the end of the day, you look back at all of the glory and you forget about the trials and tribulations. Having a good work ethic is really important. Focus on your end goals and don’t worry about what other people are doing. Sometimes we worry about what others are doing around us, and we really need to focus on our goals. What is your passion and what do you believe in?

Networking is very important in what I do. I socialize and promote and it has been a big part of why I’m successful. I’ve met so many people who have helped me with my career. And another tip is to try to create something that is not already out there. If you are the only one doing it, that will help you become successful too.
