A New Year’s Resolution: Love More!

A Powerful Resolution

It’s that time of year when many of us make New Year’s resolutions to do the things we didn’t do last year. It seems that the dawning of a new year is a great time to start fresh and make promises that will benefit us in some way. We vow to lose weight, save more money, quit smoking, get a better job, get organized and spend more time with family and friends.
However, of all the items on our lists, one that rarely shows up is “Love More”. All resolutions have the potential to make us feel better about ourselves, but if there is one thing that has the potential to empower us, connect us and heal us, it’s love. And we could certainly use more of that in the world today.

All is not lost, however. In many ways our standard resolutions have an aspect of love in them. When we promise to lose weight we are making an effort to take better care of ourselves and that is a form of self-love. The same is true of quitting smoking or spending more time with family and friends. Our “get a better job” and “get organized” resolutions offer us more opportunity and less stress, respectively. When we are working to improve our lives, we are also practicing love. Perhaps the only difference is that we are not focused on love as its own resolution: it’s more of a by-product than a line item. But, what would happen if we actually focused on loving more? What if we made it Number One on our lists, would it really change anything? The answer is a resounding yes!

A Powerful Resolution

Everything is energy. This includes our actions, our words and our thoughts which are more powerful than we have been taught. Think of the energy that you generate when you are angry, jealous and afraid or when you feel like a victim of life. That energy is negative, heavy and unhealthy.
By contrast, what does the energy you create when you are laughing, confident and fearless feel like? Most likely that energy feels positive, light and healing.

Love is a major change-agent to the way we experience life. Being aware of the energy we generate with actions, words and thoughts can help us get a better handle on life. We can create more opportunities for love, peace, happiness and health. With this awareness, we can make choices that we didn’t feel we had before that now make our lives easier and more enjoyable. Using this powerful ability is more important than ever as the world changes and the energy we create changes with it.

What You Focus on is Amplified

In this time of galactic alignments, drastic financial and corporate whistleblowing, planetary weather shifts and ancient wisdom hitting our consciousness, we are experiencing lots of energetic changes. The energy being generated from all events is stronger than ever. This kind of activity shows up as contrast in our world today. But, the contrast is also amplified which means it’s extraordinarily obvious. Our financial markets are tumbling, our attachment to materialism isn’t as fulfilling as we were once led to believe and we are learning that our food supply is chock full of poisons. It’s not a pretty picture. By contrast, we are finding more frugal ways of living cropping up, less attention to material items in lieu of meditation and yoga and an expanding availability of local, organic farmer’s markets. What no longer works for us is being replaced by what does work for us. The contrast is stark and noticeable. The damaging, unhealthy stuff seems devastating and the beneficial and enjoyable stuff seems exceptionally lovely.

What we focus on is also amplified. When we focus our attention on negativity, it may feel more negative than ever. The same is true for love and being positive .¨ seeing that silver lining everywhere you go and in everyone you meet feels better than ever. And in our changing world, our perception is beginning to follow our hearts rather than our heads. The shift is unmistakable. We are expanding love and we are expanding healing.

The Emphasis is on What Heals Us

In this time of magnified energy, we have the power to create an even more positive, loving experience for ourselves and each other than ever. Love allows us to feel connected and healthy. Imagine the effect we could have if each of us put “Love More” at the top of our New Year’s resolution lists. The power would be exponential.

As we begin to focus more on love in the world, we focus on what truly works in our favor. As we do this we are healing ourselves and the planet. This pattern of thinking causes words and actions to come into alignment with who we truly are at our core .¨ the energy of love itself. Love is healing and healing is love. It’s that simple. Why not put “Love More” at the top of your New Year’s resolution this year and see what happens? It may change your life in ways you never imagined! Happy New Year!
