The Joy of Slow Mornings: Mindful Beauty Routines for Early Risers

There’s nothing worse than when your morning looks like a chaotic whirlwind. Rushed coffee and breakfast, slapping on some makeup, just to dash out the door not feeling your best. We’ve all been there. Sure, getting the 20 extra minutes of sleep sometimes does make a difference, however, starting your day like that each morning is nothing but stressful. If this is something you’re struggling with yourself, we’re here to help. We’ve created a ‘slow mornings’ routine for all of you early risers out there.

Embrace the Lifestyle

The first stride toward experiencing the sheer bliss of slow mornings involves cultivating an affinity for the early bird lifestyle. While the notion of rising a tad earlier than your usual wake-up time might initially seem daunting, it can have a profoundly positive impact on both your mental and physical well-being. Imagine this: the world still slumbers, the sun gently ascends, and you have the entire morning at your disposal. It will make you feel as if the whole day is yours to conquer. But don’t forget—sleep is still important. That’s why your slow morning routine starts the night before when you go to bed at an appropriate time.

Skincare is Self-care

Now that you have a couple more minutes than usual, it’s time to take some pride in your skincare routine. Morning skincare is meant to be simple, that’s why we use most of our active ingredients at night. Simply wash your face with a gentle cleanser or lukewarm water, and tap it dry with your towel. If you really want to feel fancy, you can apply a soothing facial mist, and a skin serum of your choice. A vitamin C serum would be ideal, as it won’t only protect your skin from oxidative stress, but also boost your sunscreen. Next, of course, is your SPF. Apply a generous amount to your face, neck, and chest. Let it sink in for a moment, and you’re ready for makeup application.

Quick and Simple Makeup & Hair

Now, it’s time to transform yourself into your best self. And that also includes hair and makeup. Of course, no one wants to do a full glam look at 6 a.m. However, a quick and simple look will be all you need. To keep the makeup look easy, our suggestion would be to opt for cream and liquid products. They are easy to blend, less pigmented, and less can go wrong when applying them. Also, you can switch your full-coverage foundation for a BB cream, skin tint, or tinted sunscreen. A drop of mascara, and a tinted lip balm to round it all up and you will be good to go. Now, it’s time for your hair. Ideally, this should also start the night before. You can wrap your hair up into a hairstyle for heatless curls, such as braids or the TikTok famous robe curls.

Staying Mindful

All of these steps can, of course, still be stressful if you don’t include mindfulness. Lit a candle, play calming ambiance music, or meditate for a few minutes before starting your beauty routine. It’s the simple things in life that make a difference. There are other adjustments that you can make too. For example, lay out your clothes the night before, and decide which fragrance you’re going to wear. All of these easy preparation steps that you can do beforehand will make getting ready in the morning a breeze.
