How to Empower Yourself This Year

The word “Empowerment” has been thrown around many times in our modern culture, ranging from political speeches to lifestyle magazines. The bid for empowerment seems like a great idea, but is just saying it enough to be actually empowered? Not really, because real empowerment is a process; it’s a lifestyle.

In this day and age, empowerment is of the utmost importance. However, many people have never been taught to be empowered, which is extremely unfortunate. But it’s never too late to empower yourself. The best form of empowerment is self-empowerment, which will help you to gain confidence and control over your life. And it’s something that everyone can do!

HOW TO EMPOWER YOURSELF

Empowerment means to be the heroine of your life. You empower yourself by having the mindset and actions of a victor, not a victim. Luckily, there are several ways to achieve this:

  • ACCOUNTABILITY:  In order to be truly empowered, it’s important to understand, accept and own your mistakes. Learning from others and hold yourself accountable will boost your productivity and efficiency, thereby facilitating the process of your growth and empowerment.
  • PRINCIPLES: One can’t be empowered without having a strong value system. This involves setting principles and committing to them honorably. Stand up for what’s right, not what the world tells you. Being loyal to your ethics instead of trends or ideologies is key.
  • CONFIDENCE:  Finding confidence through courage forms the core of emancipation. You’re blessed with the ability to understand yourself and identify your weaknesses. So use that to double down on your strengths and having a positive mindset, which will make you more confident and comfortable in your own skin.
  • INDEPENDENCE:  Self-reliance is one of the greatest assets a woman can acquire. It’s nothing big, just knowing the basics of some useful tasks can help you navigate your life independently. This will stop you from feeling helpless and dependent while giving you tons of skills for the future.
  • BEHAVIOR: Your behavior and how you carry yourself is a significant part of your empowerment journey. Respect comes when people esteem your values and integrity; so keep it classy, keep it kind. It may be hard to do the right thing without yielding to temptation, but if it stops you from debasing yourself and regretting your actions later, then it’s worth it.
  • RESPONSIBILITY: Ladies, always remember that you have freedom to make your own choices, but they’ll always come with consequences. Playing the blame game when responsibility is due will get you nowhere.  Instead, learning to take responsibility even when you don’t want to will empower you in ways nothing else can.
  • ISSUE-MANAGEMENT: To put it very simply, being empowered means getting your life together so that you can pace yourself during adversities. This can be achieved through making plans and taking initiatives. Therapy and re-connection with loved ones can also be helpful. Honestly speaking, this is the hardest part of leveling up, yet the most important. But you have it within you and you can do it. We’re rooting for you!
  • PERSONALITY: Last, but not the least is: Embrace your quirks and unique traits. You are a novel individual and what sets you apart from the rest is being the most authentic and best version of yourself.  You’re a star, so let yourself shine vibrantly without letting others demean you. Girl, be proud of your achievements and love yourself. While you’re at it, don’t forget to treat others well too!

FINAL TAKE:

The path to empowerment may be riddled with hardships, but they can be overcome with diligence. Surrounding yourself with good people will always take you far. Hope, love, laugh and live life to the fullest. Trust me, you’ll be happier and more empowered than you’ve ever been.
