How to Find the Perfect Blush Shade For Your Skin Tone

It’s no secret that 2022 and the beginning of 2023 have been the months of cool-toned Barbie pink blush. We’ve seen it on pretty much anyone. From Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian to Madison Beer and Georgina Rodriguez. Everyone is wearing a pale pink color on their cheeks. It all started with Kylie, who was rumored to be wearing the Dior Rosy Glow blush in the shade “Pink”. But not too long after that, Kylie released her own pale pink blush, named “Winter Kiss”. While we can’t confirm what each of these celebrities use on their cheeks, we can confirm that pink is not the perfect blush shade for everyone.

If you’ve tried the pink blush trend yourself, and you weren’t exactly thrilled with the results — you know what I’m talking about. It does not show up on everybody’s skin tone, and it also doesn’t suit every undertone, and/or eye and hair color. Luckily there are plenty of other hues to choose from! So if you’re looking for a new blush that you can wear all year round, here are some things that you should take into consideration.

Pink looks best on cool undertones

Let’s address the elephant in the room. Logically, a cool-toned pink blush will look best on people with cool undertones. Sure, sometimes it can look alright on neutral and warm skin tones too. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s their ideal blush color. The whole idea behind Blush is to give you a natural flushed look. And that will look different for different people.

If you’re someone with warmer undertones, you probably already know that your natural flush isn’t exactly pink. It’s more likely a red or orange-toned color. And if you’re someone with a darker complexion, then purple or burgundy colors would fit even better. When picking out a blush, you shouldn’t follow trends. Sure, it can be fun to play around with different colors. But for a natural everyday look — go with what suits you best.

Choosing the right color

As I have already explained, there are two things you have to take into consideration when picking out a blush — your skin color and undertone. Additionally, you can also consider your hair and eye color. Let me give you an example if you’re someone with fair to light skin, a neutral undertone, hazel eyes, and light to medium brown hair — chances are that peach tones would look best on you.

If you’re, on the other hand, someone with a deeper complexion, dark eyes, and hair, you’ll probably also have to go for a deeper and brighter color. You can play around with bright red or purple colors. If you’re someone with a warm skin tone, combined with warm hair and eye color — bronzed, orange-toned blushes would look stunning on you. On the other hand, cool-toned colors such as purple-pink could be a bit too much on your complexion.
