The new year is here, and so are all the resolutions and rituals that come with it. Have you resolved to start taking better care of yourself and put your health first? Get yourself on track for a fresh wellness routine in the new year by making these changes right away!
1. Get Your Diet on Track
Start cooking at home as much as possible. When you’re required to plan a meal you’re more likely to prepare a healthy one. Ideally, the amount of protein must be twice the amount of starch. Also make it a point to drink more water, by keeping a refillable bottle next to you at all times. This way, you can stay hydrated while putting an end to those snack cravings. If you do start to feel hungry in between meals, snack on healthy fruits, nuts, and veggies. You can try bananas, oranges, apples, baby carrots or snap peas for a wholesome, nutritious snack. Keep them prepped and ready so you can reach for them anytime.
2. Make Small Changes to Your Fitness Routine
Making minor changes to your fitness routine can make a big difference to your health. Go for a short walk after lunch, dinner or first thing in the morning. This will not only keep you active but also improve your mood and relieve stress. Find it difficult to stay motivated to hit the gym every day? Keep your gym bag packed and ready near your front door. If you work out at home, keep any equipment like weights or your yoga mat handy. Also, check in with yourself and monitor your progress from time to time. Doing this will help you stay engaged and keep your goals in sight.
3. Spend Time Doing The Things You Love
It can be challenging to maintain a work-life balance when you’re juggling a ton of roles and responsibilities. But it is more important than ever to put some “me” time on your calendar. Make an effort to step away from your computer once in awhile and take a few minutes to decompress. Spend quality time with your close friends and call your loved ones more often. Also, dedicate a few hours every week to a hobby that you enjoy.
Start the coming year right by making your health and wellness a priority. Staying fit and doing the things you love can help you feel more grounded, balanced and ultimately more productive.
