- You are also a strong animal rights activist.
Can you tell us about Arm the Animals?
I am a huge defender of the defenseless. If Mathew McConaughey is a hero to himself then I consider myself a hero to the animals. I believe every living thing has a purpose. I see life a little differently when it comes to animals. I have such a soft place in my heart for them.
I had an incident occur when I was a youth that forever changed me. Gandhi’s quote “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” is something that I firmly believe to be true.
I watch the way people are with animals and it really shows who they are as human beings. It’s very important to me that we protect those that were here long before us.
Arm The Animals was officially launched in January 2010 with the goal of becoming a large, internationally successful brand capable of affecting real change in the world of animal welfare. We dedicated ourselves to creating great products people love while also giving them the opportunity to act charitably and help change the lives of millions of animals. It is our mission to run a socially positive, thriving business that assists small, struggling animal shelters by giving them the resources to continue their vital services. We are not a politically motived company and simply wish to educate people on the subject of proper animal stewardship and basic humanity toward our animals.
- Can you tell us about your exciting, upcoming role in Altitude & Criminal Activity?
I am currently filming Altitude as I write this interview. My dear friends Jandi Swanson & Gregory Thomas who are helping produce this film with Traverse Entertainment approached me. Jack Dennis Rogers was a character I wanted to tackle. It’s an action thriller but I was more interested in the story of these two people who are in the beginning stages of a relationship. There is something so amazing and magical about a couple who starts to fall in love and that was something I really wanted to explore.
- You were honored by the City of Los Angeles for jumping inside an overturned automobile that was on fire to rescue someone.
This sounds like a scenario straight out of an action film!
This is the first time I have really spoken about this incident but I will say this, because of my training in the Marines I was able to act in a way that saved an incredible woman’s life. Roz Busch was 72 years old at the time of the accident and has been a public servant working for the DMV for the majority of her life. If my life had been taken trying to save this woman I would have gladly given it. She is now a friend and someone I love dearly. Roz you make this world a better place and I am so happy you are here. You are my hero!
