Ways You Can Fight Inflammation Naturally

Combat inflammation the natural way!

Did you know that many of us in today’s modern world suffer from inflammation? Why? Inflammation is a response to the body healing itself from an injury, combating viruses or bacteria and repairing our tissues.
And when we suffer from inflammation we usually see redness and swelling of our tissues. Sometimes we have pain, discomfort and the area may feel warm or even hot.

In today’s modern society, we are moving away from the way we were designed. And as a result, our immunity can get confused. We eat processed foods, lead lives where we sit in front of a computer for eight hours a day and we were not naturally designed for this.

As a result, we may suffer from chronic inflammation. Pollution, excessive stress and a junk food diet can attribute to this. But how can you fight inflammation the natural way without medication and pills? Here are a few ways you can restore nature’s balance within your system.

Ditch Your Junk Food

Let’s begin by ditching the junk food diet. Here in America, junk food is easily accessible on every street corner. Pack your lunch rather than going out for fast food each day. Also, clean out your pantry so you won’t be tempted by food that isn’t good for you. Next, choose whole grains to eat. For example, don’t pick a loaf of white bread off the shelves at the grocery store. Instead, why not try a tasty sprouted grain? Steel cut oatmeal is great too! And rather than choosing regular pasta, opt for whole grain noodles that taste just as good!

Figure Out Your Food Allergies

It is also important to find out if you are allergic to any food items. For example, some allergens are soy, wheat and corn. And these foods are very common. So, you might be eating corn, for example, in many different forms in foods you didn’t even know contained something you might be allergic to. Read the ingredient list and make certain there isn’t something in there that your body will react to.

Limit Your Sugar Intake

This might be difficult for some, but try limiting sugar if you can. Items such as raw sugar, white sugar and fruit juices can spike blood sugar. This leads to inflammation. So, lessening your intake of sugar is better for your body on the whole.

Eat Healthy Fats and Protein

Who said that fat can’t be good for you? There are certain fats that, believe it or not, are great for your health. They are anti-inflammatory and include avocados, olives, raw nuts and seeds! A handful of pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds or almonds makes for a super healthy snack!

And don’t forget your protein! Aim for 20 to 30 grams of protein per each meal. How about beans, tofu, nuts and seeds for starters?

Eat Your Greens

And remember to eat your leafy greens each day. These can include spinach, kale, broccoli, collard greens, chard or any other dark green veggie! They even taste great in a smoothie! These contain anti-inflammatory chlorophyll and are a delicious addition to any meal!
