Byward Market is one of the first areas visited by tourists, but it doesn’t mean you should leave it out. It’s popular for a reason! The Byward Market Square is full of local boutiques as well as restaurants featuring global cuisine. Here you can also find a great shopping center, CF Rideau Centre.
In this section of town, you’ll also come across the National Gallery, alongside the historic Alexandra Bridge which connects Ottawa to Gatineau. Inside this absolutely breathtaking marvel of a building
you’ll see everything from historical Canadian art to newer photography exhibits. It’s a must-see during your visit.
After the National Gallery, don’t miss the opportunity to walk into the
Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. It’s even more enchanting in person.
