Here are some sneaky anxiety-inducing habits that increase your stress and could be affecting your life negatively.

1. Always Running Late

Hitting the snooze button several times every morning is a bad way to begin your day. Running around trying to get things done is anxiety-provoking behavior and can get your day off to a bad start. Even the calmest people tend to lose their cool when they’re running behind schedule. Put an end to morning chaos at all costs to manage stress better.

2. Trying to Remember Your To-Do List

Keeping your to-do list in your head instead of writing things down can leave you feeling stressed out. What you probably don’t realize is that trying to remember all the things you need to do takes up a significant amount of energy and brain space. Putting your tasks down on paper not only gives you temporary relief, but it can also serve as an extension of your brain. Buy yourself a notepad or use an app like Evernote to stay on top of all your chores.

3. Using Your Phone or Computer Before Bed

Most of us are constantly on our phones throughout the day. On average, people now spend over eight hours on their electronic devices. But it’s necessary to relax and switch off as you wind down for the day. Your stress levels are linked closely to the amount and quality of sleep you get.

The more stressed out you are, the less likely you are to be able to sleep well. This becomes a vicious cycle as the lack of sleep leads to more stress. Using your phone or computer at night makes the problem worse by overstimulating you. Try disconnecting from your devices at least 2 hours before bed to end this cycle of stress.

By eliminating these habits out of your life, you can get on the path to living stress-free. As with breaking most patterns, this can take time but can help immensely in toning down your anxiety. Recognize the things that are making you feel stressed out and work to eliminate them from your life.
