Lockdown Luxe: The Celeb Cosmetic Surge Boom After the Pandemic

While many celebrities are beautiful, their secret can sometimes be cosmetic surgery. If you think that the entertainment industry became prettier after the pandemic, you’re not wrong. At a time when the lockdown and remote work had us glued to our seats, there was a considerable surge in cosmetic and plastic surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic among celebrities at a time when no one could know.

Insights From a Renowned Surgeon

Before the pandemic, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Jay Calvert’s clients would be ‘reticent and scared’ if he suggested a major facelift or a revised rhinoplasty. However, since 2020, ‘they have been all-in,’ said Calvert. Other surgeons, such as Dr. John Layke and Dr. Payman Danielpour, also admitted that they’ve seen a surge in breast enhancement surgeries in many pop stars who’re in their 20s and 30s. Liposuction surgeries have been more common in male actors than you can possibly imagine.

Under the Knife and Out of Sight: Who Got Plastic Surgery?

No plastic surgeons reveal their celebrity clients, but some names have been in the spotlight for plastic surgery ever since film reshoots began. To start with, the two most controversial people of the year Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard come to mind. Amber Heard is thought to have gotten rhinoplasty surgeries over the years. People also speculate that influencers such as Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid got what is known as a canthoplasty or fox eye-lift surgery, where the eye is reshaped to make it look bigger and more almond-like.

There are other names, such as TV ‘Dance Moms’ star Abby Lee Miller who got liposuction, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave got neck lift surgery. But both these women have discussed their journeys with the press quite openly. So, all in all, with Instagram being so popular these days, it’s hardly possible to hide plastic surgery, especially if you’ve posted pre- and post-quarantine pictures.

Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Is Not Taboo

We can’t really know what went through the minds of these celebrities when they got their surgeries. It could be any number of personal things, from wanting to self-discover, look flawless on video during the pandemic, or basically just fit in more with the glitterati when the pandemic ends.

Everyone is beautiful the way they are, but some often go under the knife to feel more comfortable with themselves. While the stigma surrounding plastic surgery is slowly wearing off, we’re still far from accepting cosmetic surgery as a non-taboo. It’s imperative that we promote the values of welcoming those who wish to get cosmetic surgery without asking intrusive questions like ‘Why.’

Endnote

If you struggle with confidence and self-esteem issues and think a cosmetic procedure would make you happy and more at peace, you should go for it. As long as you choose a certified plastic surgery professional who knows what they’re doing, there is nothing wrong with getting cosmetic surgery. Just make sure you’re not getting warped into the Instagram craze of looking like a supermodel 24/7. Remember, no one is perfect all the time, not even celebrities.
