How To Give Your Home A Facelift In 2023

Is your home in need of a facelift? It’s easy to allow your home to become outdated and tired over the years. From various bumps and scuffs into the walls to high-traffic areas where the carpets have become discolored or frayed.

Giving your home a facelift might be necessary this year and it can be done with just a few simple changes. No need to revamp the space completely or invest in a home renovation. Sometimes, it’s the little things that can contribute greatly to the overall look of the home.

With that being said, here are some helpful tips to give your home that much-needed facelift it deserves in 2023.

Do some landscaping

Landscaping is often an afterthought when it comes to updating your home and unsurprisingly, it’s one of the bigger projects you could do to give your home a facelift.

With landscaping, it can also be a fairly expensive venture, especially if you decide to rip up your whole backyard in favor of the ultimate transformation. Landscaping though doesn’t need to be too overly intensive when it comes to making changes. Instead, it might be something that you do in part over time.

Think about how you can best utilize the current space and where you might want to create new areas. After all, your garden can still be a part of the home, whether that’s outdoor dining spaces to lounge areas with warm fit pits lit for the cooler months.

Landscaping can be great to add value to the home and can be a great way of helping improve the exterior of your home too!

Declutter your spaces

In order to give your home a transformation that doesn’t take up too much of your time, consider decluttering your spaces. This is a great way to free up space in the home and to feel like you’re living in a more spacious environment – rather than one that feels quite cramped.

Even the biggest of properties can feel cramped when you’ve got too much clutter in the space. It’s also something that can happen quickly in a short space of time, especially with multiple household members.

It’s not surprising that many of us end up hoarding clutter away unknowingly. From it being stuffed into drawers or simply being forgotten about over the years, a good way to give your home that facelift from the inside is by decluttering every room.

Take a trash bag around each room and be ruthless with any clutter that you no longer need or that serves a purpose to you.

Keep furniture to a minimum

It’s useful to try and minimize the amount of furniture you have in a space. Ideally, keeping it minimal is going to help when it comes to creating a functional space.

Over time, you might have bought furniture from another property or incorporated more furniture into the space from other rooms. At some point, all that furniture is going to suddenly make the home feel less than spacious. You may find yourself bumping into and tripping over furniture that you could once freely walk by.

Minimalism is a great style of design to incorporate into your home, especially if you’re looking to free up the space to make it more functional for a growing family.

Play around with lighting

Lighting is certainly something you want to experiment with when it comes to giving your home a much-needed facelift. It’s often the case that light can play an influential role in the space and it’s something that is very much needed for some homes.

Not every room in your home might currently be benefiting from natural light in the space. For some, it might be a harder challenge and therefore the room itself needs more artificial light incorporated into it.

Think about how you could play around with lighting, adding levels to the lighting in order to make it more effective. For example, you might want some ceiling spotlights but also some hanging lights in other rooms. Some floor lamps might be more effective in larger rooms whereas wall lights might be more appropriate for the smaller spaces.

If any natural light can be incorporated into the space, that’s the best way to help improve the look of the home in general. Add mirrors to help reflect the light and bounce it around the room to brighten the space further.

Hang some wall art or decorate with wallpaper

Walls are often the first area of the home to show signs of wear and tear. It’s important to update these areas of the home as and when you can. If it’s just a case of touching up paint, then this shouldn’t take too long at all.

However, if you’re looking for a more dramatic finish, then it’s definitely worth considering some wall art or decorating with wallpaper instead. Like this lovely dolphin wallpaper print, there are lots of wallpaper options that might be just up your avenue when it comes to revitalizing a space in the home.

Wallpapering can be a challenging practice, especially if you’ve not done it before. However, with a bit of practice, you can really transform your walls to look brand new and well-kept.

Add some indoor plants

Plants are a great way to brighten up the space and they’re not expensive to buy. Adding indoor plants has become somewhat of a trend in recent years, especially as they hold many great benefits.

If you don’t have any indoor plants in your home currently, then you’re certainly missing out. Adding some indoor plants to each room can add that lick of color you might be after. They also help boost your mood and clean the air around you.

Aim to get one or two plants into each room where you can and think about how high maintenance some of these plants might be. For example, you might want to get some hard-to-kill plants to avoid having to chuck any out.

There are also certain plants that will adapt to the environment better depending on the room you put them in. For example, plants who love a lot of moisture will prefer to be in rooms where a lot of moisture is found, like your bathroom for example.

Pressure wash your exteriors

Coming back out to your exteriors, it’s worth investing in a pressure washer or hiring a pressure washer service to wash your exterior walls.

Whether it’s brickwork or some other durable material, these materials are more than likely to become worn and dirty over the years.

Pressure washing is a great way to give your walls and floors externally, a new lease of life. The amount of debris and dirt that forms on these surfaces is incredible to see get washed away within seconds. It’s a quick process and one that really transforms the outside of your home as a result.

Invest in smart technology

Smart technology is worthwhile when it comes to your home and bringing it into the modern day. If you’ve not invested in underfloor heating, smart appliances that link up to your mobile phone, or solar paneling, then these are just a few examples worth trying out.

Giving your home a facelift might be in the form of introducing more smart technology to your home.

When it comes to your home this year, think about incorporating some of these tips into your spaces to give it the transformation it might need in 2023. Hopefully, you’ll be able to notice a big difference in your spaces as a result.
