Do You Need a Face Mist? Everything You Need to Know

If you’re a fan of watching YouTube makeup tutorials, then you’ll be very familiar with the final minute of every video dedicated entirely to spritzing a face mist. It’s the step that you never knew you needed, but once you try it, you’ll never be able to live without it. Face mists have become all the rage in the beauty world. With countless releases on the market, any true makeup lover owns at least three different mist options.

Face mists are commonly known as what you set your makeup with, but there are so many more options out there! You have priming mists, skincare mists, and even acid-exfoliating mists! It seems that almost every skincare product has a face mist counterpart. We are so here for the face mist movement. Nothing quite compares to replacing a few beauty routine steps with a refreshing spritz.

Many A Face Mist

Face mists have been around for ages, especially setting sprays. Almost every single beauty brand has created its own makeup setting mist and we can never get enough. Every mist seems to serve a different purpose. Whether it’s to improve the longevity of your makeup or to give you an extra level of dewiness or mattify your look. The finishes are endless and we’re all very familiar with them. But what most people aren’t too familiar with is the fact that there are many other types of sprays on the market. They are as follows:

  • Toner: One of the more common skincare face mists has to be toner mists. People have been taking their toners and putting them into a spray bottle for a while, but many brands are releasing toner mists now. Misting your toner on allows your skin to really soak it up faster and more efficiently. It also stops you from wasting product that your cotton pads typically drink up!
  • Moisturizer: We all love a good moisturizer, but sometimes it gets so annoying to have to wait for it to settle in before you apply your makeup or before you sleep. Moisturizing face mists give your skin an intense dose of hydration while also settling in super fast. It’s also fun to keep spraying them on throughout the day to keep you hydrated.
  • SPF: Threw you off with that one, didn’t we? We’re all familiar with SPF body mists, but now they make them for your face too. This is especially handy because while we all know you’re meant to apply SPF repeatedly, you couldn’t pay us enough to slather it on top of our flawless makeup. With an SPF face mist you can spray it on and keep your skin protected without moving or bothering your makeup application!
  • Makeup Remover: Another wild card, we know. But brands are now actually creating oil sprays that can dissolve your makeup. This one has to be our favorite in terms of efficiency. You simply spritz the oil onto your face and rub it into your skin with your fingers. The spritz really deeply dissolves the makeup a lot faster than if you slowly built up the oil onto your face.

What Makes A Good Face Mist?

Now that you’re ready to replace most of your beauty routine with misting steps, it’s time to understand what makes a good face mist. With so many on the market it’s hard to tell which is going to work better than the other. While every product obviously will be different in terms of quality, there is one face mist quality that you need in every single one.

The spritzer on your face mist is the most important quality (that is, aside from the product itself!). You could find an amazing product, but if the spritzer just spits the product at your face there’s absolutely no point. A good face mist should lightly spray your face evenly. Any harsh spitting motions and we are out!
