Where to Stay in Baden-Württemberg and the Swabian Alb

When I bring up staying in Germany, my guess is that you may not immediately think of Baden-Württemberg and the Swabian Alb.  Despite it not being a major mainstream location for an international audience quite yet, I’m here to help try and change that. I want to share with all of you the absolute treasure that is Baden-Württemberg and the Swabian region of Southern Germany. Let’s start this adventure by talking about why you should visit the Swabian Alb before moving into the details of where to stay in Baden-Württemberg.

Image a place so beautiful it looks as if it came out of a Disney movie. In Baden-Württemberg, there’s picturesque mountains perfectly painted the brightest of greens. There are rivers and lakes so blue they look fake (however, they are, in fact, that blue- it’s the natural compounds in the water making it look that way). There’s serene monasteries painting the landscape and perfectly medieval German buildings sprinkled about. That’s what we’re talking about here in Baden-Württemberg. With unmatchable beauty and a documented history that goes well back to the Ice Age, it’s truly a treasure trove of history and lore. So, without further ado, let’s talk about where to stay in this truly breathtaking spot.

BioHotel Rose

Placed magically in old fairy-tale like buildings in the small town near Wimsen, the BioHotel Rose gives you a luxury accommodation experience while out in the countryside. You get to enjoy all the beauty of the nature and cave systems of the Swabian Alb while still not cutting corners on the accommodation. The facade of the hotel is picturesque and perfectly magical looking; however, the interior is very fresh, modern, and new. Each room has its own stylish design with a theme. In my stay, I got the world travel room, which was perfect for the adventurous aesthetic I use for my brand.

The breakfast at the hotel each morning was exceptional. There was always an array of fresh juices, fruits, veggies, salads and breads. It was an organic, whole foods fresh breakfast served daily! We never left hungry as we set off on our daily adventures. The lounge the breakfast was served in is also the drink lounge in the evening, and it’s a truly hip and stylish spot.

The restaurant on property, the Restaurant Rose, was truly one-of-a-kind. It offers gourmet cuisine from a notable chef in the area, and here’s the best part: the main courses do not offer any meat! You heard us right! Perfect for vegans and vegetarians, meat is only offered here as a side dish. All the main courses are meatless, making it a truly exceptional experience for vegans. Plus, the meals are made from the best regional organic ingredients.

Oh, and it’s family-owned, adding just another reason you should visit! If you find yourself in the Swabian Alb, and I truly hope you do, you simply must stay at the BioHotel Rose.

Ruby Hanna Hotel

Let’s move out of the country and focus more on the big city of Baden-Wurttemberg. I’m talking about Stuttgart, a wild hub of art, culture, and cars! Home of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, countless vineyards and hiking spots, and a bustling fashion district, Stuttgart is a must-visit. But with a plethora of locations to stay at, where do we recommend? I would be remiss if I didn’t recommend the Ruby Hanna Hotel!

In the heart of the shopping district of Stuttgart, you’ll find the Ruby Hanna Hotel. It’s incredibly chic, stylish, comfortable, and modern. The hotel boasts, “Ruby Hanna is a love letter to the region’s centuries-old wine-making story. That’s why, when it comes to design, we’ve charted the trade’s transition from sorcery to modern science, with copper stills and antique casks.” In my opinion, it was the epitome of modern city luxury with chic-ly clean rooms and a truly stylish lobby complete with restaurant and bar. The breakfast here was, also, truly delicious, as well, and each guest could go up to the bar for their specially-made coffee. As someone who loves art, the lobby, itself, looked like a carefully laid out piece of art, making for a comfortable spot to stop in for a drink. I’d consider the Ruby Hanna Hotel an art hotel for those who love staying in stylish facades complete with artistic integrity.

Kronenhotel

The Kronenhotel is another great spot to stay in Stuttgart. This hotel is more on the outskirts of the city. So, if you’re looking to stay near the hills, hikes, and vineyards surrounding the valley of Stuttgart, this is the perfect spot for you. In fact, if you stay here, I encourage you to walk up the stairs directly in the hill behind the hotel and turn to the right once you reach the street. At the end of that street, you’ll find the most beautiful Chinese Temple Garden you could visit. It’s a spot for serene meditation to take you out of the bustling city life. I truly enjoyed my time here, and it feels separated from the chaos of the city.

The Kronenhotel is clean, modern, chic, and quiet. I felt safe and happy tucked away in my time there, and the breakfast buffet was exceptional (and complete with mimosas)! The lobby space, lounge area, and the amenities of the hotel were also truly lux and charming. All in all, it’s another great spot to stay at in Stuttgart, especially if you’re looking to stay on the outskirts of the city.

Whether you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, a trip to the Mercedes Benz Museum, or a journey through the prehistoric depths of history, Baden-Württemberg is a fantastic place for your next trip. And here at VIVA GLAM Magazine, we can’t recommend it enough.
