Tiki cocktails are back!
It may be 2016 but the 1930s are having a comeback in cocktails this year. Tiki cocktails are one of the most popular drinks to sip and post on Instagram. Make summer last a little longer and try the Aguila di Desierto (Desert Eagle) cocktail from Glady’s in Brooklyn, New York.
Tiki cocktails got their start in the early 30s from Don the Beachcomber who spent time in the Caribbean and South Pacific where he gathered souvenirs and customs of the regions. Now 80 years later, Tiki cocktails are still just as popular.
Aguila di Desierto is made with Blue Nectar Resposado Extra Blend Tequila which adds a Mexican flair to the tropical drink featuring banana, pineapple and lime.
Aguila di Desierto (Desert Eagle) from Glady’s
3/4 oz Banana Liqueur
3/4 oz Bittermens Tepache
3/4 oz Pineapple Juice
3/4 oz Lime Juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake. Pour into a Tiki mug, top with pebbled ice. Garnish with pine leaves, a scored lime shell and pineapple wedge.
