You already know how obsessed with skincare I am. But what you may not know is that skincare has no boundaries for me — which means it’s not just limited to the area from my head to my chest. And honestly — that’s the only right way to do it, especially with the warmer seasons approaching. Of course, I understand that body skincare routines can take a lot more time than just caring for our precious faces. But hey, that’s the price of being a glowing goddess. So, here’s my ultimate body skincare routine for radiant skin from head to toe.
Everything Showers
First, I have to introduce you to the concept of an everything shower. Or as I like to call them —hot girl showers. These are weekly or bi-weekly pampering treatments that will keep your skin smooth and soft. Because let’s be real here for a second — no one has time to do a full-on body skincare routine every evening. That’s why I like to simplify my routine 5 or 6 times a week and go all out at least once. Besides the basic steps such as hair washing and shaving, my everything shower also includes dry brushing, an exfoliating body wash, body lotions, and body oils. So, let’s explain each of these steps.
Dry Brushing
This OG exfoliation method has been around since the dawn of time (well, almost). However, I see that a lot of you girlies out there still haven’t figured out how to do it right. Picture this: you, a fluffy dry brush, and your naked bod. The end results? Incredibly smooth skin and better lymphatic drainage. Start from your feet and work your way up with gentle, circular motions to slough off those pesky dead skin cells and get that blood flowing. You will not only give your skin a little bit of TLC but your muscles and blood vessels too.
Body Wash with Salicylic Acid
If you are suffering from things such as body acne breakouts, ingrown hairs, and rough patches then you need to include an exfoliating body wash in your body skincare routine. And my favorite options would be the ones enriched with 2% salicylic acid. This magical ingredient exfoliates deep within your pores to banish acne and reveal smoother, brighter skin. In addition to all of that, SA also offers antimicrobial properties, which means that it can help with delicate topics such as body odor.
Hydrating Body Oils
After all that scrub-a-dub-dubbing, it’s time to treat your skin to some much-needed hydration. And what I love to do straight after getting out of the shower is slaughtering my body with natural oils. Jojoba, grapeseed, argan, or even coconut oil — all of them can work wonders when it comes to making your skin look smooth and glowy. Simply slather that oil all over your damp skin to lock in moisture and leave your skin feeling softer than a cloud.
Body Lotions or Creams
But wait, we’re not done yet! Seal the deal with a generous helping of body lotion or cream to keep that moisture locked in all day long. Choose a formula that’s as rich and creamy as possible. Especially if you’re having super dry skin. If that’s not the case and you feel like body lotions feel too heavy, you can just apply them to rough areas of your skin, such as your knees and elbows. Don’t forget your feet too! And finally, you’re ready to take on the world with your radiant glow.
