Syd Wilder – NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS

3 of 4

EB: And you presented at the Streamy Awards! Tell us about that experience.

SW: I felt honored to be asked to present at The Streamy Awards this year – just the fact that I was recognized to present! And, I had a blast. Heather McDonald of Chelsea Lately presented the big Best Comedy Series award with me. I thought to myself, She’s either going to hate me or love me. I hope it’s love and thank GOD it was! We’re both comedians and writers and in this business you never know how us “artists” are going to perform together. We both improvised our lines and decided we were going to act like we hated each other on stage. She said to me “Whatever, do your webcam thing” and it took so much to not die laughing but I didn’t break for that line. Hopefully the show’s writer doesn’t want kill us! I was also so excited to give the award to one of my favorite YouTubers Hannah Hart. I’m hoping to collaborate with her in 2015!

EB: I also want talk about your time in Italy. Italy is synonymous with fashion. What were you doing out there? Outside of shooting what did you do?

SW: Myself and some friends, including my mom, were there in September last year for my birthday and to finish my calendar shoot. My friends call it “Sydtember.” I love it! I started the shoot in LA but I wanted to finish in Italy. We went to Florence, Rome, Capri, Positano, Orvieto, Pompeii and Naples. I didn’t plan ahead and Florence was our first city and I got extremely hungover on the first day! Let’s just say my inner monologue was “That WASN’T such a brilliant idea Syd!” I always think I have the most extraordinary ideas after I’ve been drinking, hopefully I’m not alone on that. LOL! I learned quickly that mama can’t drink before a shoot day and that for me was the most difficult part of this trip. Balancing work and play when you’re on vacation. Then, we checked out the Sistine Chapel (I didn’t drink before that experience) and we got a private tour guide and he was kind enough to turn on the lights for us and allowed us to take pictures and videos. I didn’t realize until after we left that apparently they only allow celebrities take pictures in the Chapel! Capri, is my absolute favorite island ever! I think we got the best shots there and it’s killing me that I can’t post them on Instagram but the calendar will worth the wait!

EB: I also notice you have great fashion sense in all your pictures. It can be on the red carpet, at an event, or just out with your friends, you always look great. What’s your inspiration be it an appearance, a regular pic, or an actual shoot?

SW: Thank you Erman! I don’t consider myself to have a great fashion sense because that’s not really what I care about. I care about making people laugh but I know looking good and dressing well is apart of the job especially now with social media. I’m a moody woman when it comes to dressing up and my inspiration constantly changes from Sophia Loren to Stevie Nicks. I always dress on how I feel but I almost always prefer to wear dresses because it’s only one piece and it’s so much easier for me to match shoes and accessories. Plus, I hate pants! My body type wasn’t meant to wear pants!

EB: Definitely! With that said, you must feel great being asked to be part of this celebrity edition.

SW: I am beyond thrilled and grateful! I cannot believe I’m in a magazine that Leah Remini is on the cover of! I love her! I met her backstage with her Mom at an Ozzy Osbourne concert at Universal CityWalk years ago and she was the nicest most down to earth woman I’ve ever met. Ozzy sprayed her Mom with water and she got really excited and loved every minute of it! I was so impressed with how Rock and Roll her mom was!
