Staying Hydrated on the Go: Creative Ways to Drink More Water

There are just four things that absolutely every human needs: food, water, air, and sleep. And even though most of us never forget to breathe, sleep, and eat, a lot of us do have a tendency to overlook our water intake. That’s especially true if you busy or constantly on the go. However, our bodies will eventually pay the price for that.

Why is Hydration Important?

Let’s quickly go through the benefits of staying hydrated. Water plays a vital role in many bodily processes, including regulating body temperature, transporting nutrients, and flushing out waste. Water makes up about 60% of our bodies. Headaches, lethargy, and even more serious medical issues like kidney stones and heatstroke can all result from dehydration. So needless to say — staying hydrated is an absolute necessity.

Creative Ways to Drink More Water

Drinking enough water is hard as it is. But it gets even harder once you’re on the go. However, staying hydrated is even more important when you’re constantly moving and exploring new surroundings. Here are some fun and creative ways to drink more water, no matter where you are or what you’re doing.

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

Bringing a reusable water bottle with you is one of the simplest and best ways to stay hydrated while on the go. Choose a sturdy water bottle that you can fill up all day. In addition to keeping you hydrated, this also reduces the use of plastic.

Spice Up Your Water

Try flavoring plain water if you don’t like the taste of it. You can add herbs like mint or basil or fruits like lemon, lime, or strawberries to your water to enhance its taste. This can increase your appreciation of drinking water and it will also keep you hydrated in the meantime.

Set Reminders

Remind yourself to drink water throughout the day. You can use an app or set an alarm on your phone to notify you to drink water on a regular schedule. If you have a tendency to forget to drink water because you’re busy, this can be incredibly helpful.

Consume Foods Rich in Water

Water content is naturally high in many foods, including fruits and vegetables. You can stay hydrated all day long by snacking on things like grapes, cucumber, or watermelon.

Electrolyte Tablets

You might need more than just plain water to stay hydrated if you’re working out or just sweating a lot. That’s where electrolyte tablets come into play. They can keep you hydrated and balance the electrolytes you lose through sweating.

Keep Water in Sight

To remind yourself to drink more water during the day, keep a glass or bottle nearby. Have a water bottle nearby if you work in an office. Or have a glass of water on the counter if you are at home.

Make It a Game

Make it a game to push yourself to consume a particular amount of water each day. A water-tracking app lets you keep track of your progress and compete with others.

Sparkling Water

Another great way to stay hydrated is by drinking sparkling water. This can spice up your water-drinking habit and make it more enjoyable. However, I have to warn you — sparkling water is not for everyone. Some people absolutely despise the feel of it.
