Simple Ways to Express Gratitude For Someone

Sometimes you feel it in your heart that a genuine “thank you” simply won’t cut it. Other times you simply feel like expressing your appreciation for someone and all that they mean to you. No matter the reason, expressing gratitude through action, no matter how small, makes a big difference for both the person it is intended, as well as yourself. It feels good, so do it.

Get Someone a Small Gift for No Particular Reason, Just to Say Thank You

The best gifts are the ones that are unexpected, personal, thoughtful. That’s why, if you have someone in your life who you want to thank, consider surprising them with something thoughtful. For example, that friend in your life who is a constant encouragement and who’s always building you up – go out of your way to gift them with something small and meaningful, just as a token of your appreciation for all they do.

Give Someone a Shout Out On Social Media

Social media is quite the platform, guys and girls. Thanks to the Internet and the likes of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and others, one statement has the potential to reach millions and millions of people in minutes. Using social media to shout out that love for a good friend… a great way to show them you’re grateful.

Take Someone to Lunch at His or Her Favorite Restaurant

We love this option because it’s three very important gifts in one: the gift of quality time, the gift of thoughtfulness as you strategically select that perfect restaurant, and the very practical gift of you graciously covering the bill. If you really want to say “thank you”, this is a stand-out way to do it.

Bring Over Their Favorite Food

Nothing says, “Thank you” like a delicious meal and the convenience of someone else preparing it and delivering it to you. Shoot your friend a text – “I’d love to bring over dinner tonight”, and prepare their favorite dish. If you feel it’s more appropriate to leave the dish for them to enjoy and head home, do that. However, if it’s a great friend who doesn’t mind you taking over their kitchen, don’t underestimate the thoughtfulness behind bringing all the ingredients (and a bottle of wine), prepping the food in their kitchen, and enjoying the meal with them. If you do this, don’t stick them with the cleanup!

Take Them for a Mani/Pedi, Massage or Other Beauty Service

If we’re honest, pampering yourself is something that often falls by the wayside. How often do you find an excuse to buy yourself a massage, or to treat yourself to a mani/pedi? Probably a couple times a year, at best, though you deserve it much more often. That’s why gifting someone with a beauty service is a great idea. It says, “Thank you .¨ please enjoy a little pampering on me, because you deserve it”!

Surprise Them With Groceries

With a slew of apps and services out there like Yummy, Postmates, Instacart, Pink Dot (LA only), Deliveer, and Amazon Fresh this is a very easy thing to do and can be HUGE thoughtful points – whether romantically involved or not. This is an amazing surprise to do for the BFF or Fam when they are sick, crazy busy, or you are planning an evening together.

Don’t hesitate to do a little more than the traditional “thank you” when you feel it.
