Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna and More in the First Trailer for “OCEAN’S 8”

To the tune of “These Boots Are Made for Walking”, Warner Bros. released the first star-studded trailer for “Ocean’s 8”, a new installment of the famous heist franchise starring Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.

In the film,
Debbie Ocean, the sister of George Clooney’s Danny, gets help from Lou (Cate Blanchett), Eight Ball (Rihanna), Amita (Mindy Kaling), Tammyt (Sarah Paulson), Constance (Awkwafina), and Rose (Helena Bonham Carter) to take down one specific actress .Æ Daphne Kluger, played by Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, in order “to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala.”

The goal? To steal Daphne’s $150 million diamond necklace as the movie star attends the famous gala hosted by Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

Last week it was the opportunity to check out the film’s impressive teaser poster and on Monday, it was released a 15-second teaser that showed Anne Hathaway slapping someone, Rihanna playing with gadgets, Kaling inspecting some serious jewlery and Blanchett wearing magnificent pantsuits.

Besides the world famous cast, there are more stars slated to appear in the highly anticipated follow-up to the “Ocean’s trilogy”. Hailey Baldwin, Derek Blasberg, Katie Holmes, Dakota Fanning, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Zayn Malik, Olivia Munn, Lauren Santo Domingo, Zac Posen, Alexander Wang and Anna Wintour herself filmed scenes at the 2016 Met Gala.

It was confirmed that Matt Damon would be reprising his role as Linus Caldwell, his character from the previous installments and he will be joining newcomers Richard Armitage, and James Corden.

So far, James Corden is the only man shown in the trailer that actually delivers lines; the multitalented brit appears two times in the trailer (in what seem to be the same scene) and asks Debbie, “Is it genetic? Are the whole family like this?” To which Debbie says, “Literally.”

Like her famous con-artist brother, Debbie shows no fear while planning her next heist. In fact, it appears she conceived the idea while spending time in jail for another crime.
“It was a mistake, but it happened,” Debbie says during her bail hearing. “And if I were to be released I would just want the simple life. I just want to hold down a job, make some friends, pay my bills.”

The sneak peak also appears to reveal that Danny Ocean is dead. According to the trailer, Sandra can be seen enjoying a drink in front of her brother’s grave, which says he died in 2018

There’s still months to wait for the female-driven film. The action-packed movie doesn’t hit theaters until June 8, 2018.
