To be the author of a popular Young Adult series is the dream for thousands of authors everywhere. It’s no longer enough just to be a “published author” but to be the next J.K. Rowling, Cassandra Clare, or Stephanie Meyer is the new goal. Why? Because not only do these books sell MILLIONS of copies, but they get turned into an incredible franchise which branches out into films and TV shows. We’ve seen the success of the Harry Potter books as films (and now a theme park which we reviewed) as well as Twilight. So when The Mortal Instruments didn’t quite grab the box office numbers we all expected, Hollywood was confused. But now we know why: it’s because it works so much better as a TV show, as Shadowhunters on Freeform.
If you have yet to watch Shadowhunters, we highly recommend you do so. You can easily understand, follow along, and fall in love with the series without ever reading the books. They’re that good on their own. And the show is backed up by an incredible cast that includes Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, and more. Their cast chemistry is undeniable, the writing is phenomenal, and even the wardrobe is one we can only dream to emulate.
In between filming seasons 1 and 2, we talked to Katherine McNamara, Clary Fray herself, about the whirlwind of an experience she’s had since signing on for Shadowhunters. She’s also recently been named the new ambassador for WallFlower Jeans, following in the footsteps of Sarah Hyland, Bella Thorne, and Olivia Holt. We learned all about why she loves the brand, how her life has changed since starting the show, and what we can expect next from Clary in season 2!
