What Makes Kakslauttanen so Unique?
One of the most unique things about Kakslauttanen is the resort’s deep appreciation for Lapland’s traditional culture. Almost everything at the resort has been created locally by craftsmen and artists from Finnish Lapland. During our trip, almost all of the food was traditional Finnish food brought in from local markets. And the wood-carved beauty of the architecture was done by local artisans.
That being said, the most touching part of my journey at Kakslauttanen was the strong sense of culture that I felt there. With almost everything being made locally, I felt a personal touch in everything I experienced. We were very close with nature in a way that I wasn’t used to- in the Arctic cold. The attire, food, and lodging (especially the teepees) were so rich with culture that I could feel the energy of this ancient land, and it was very warm and welcoming.
Kakslauttanen has been added to my list of places that I want to return to as frequently as possible. I encourage you to add it to your bucket list and experience the ancient land of Lapland as soon as you are able to.
