How to Become a Morning Person and Be More Energized Throughout the Day

For some of us, getting up early isn’t something that comes naturally. In fact, it feels more like a tedious chore, but getting up earlier can help you be more productive and give you more time to get important tasks done. If you have trouble waking up in the morning because of grogginess or just general exhaustion, you may want to try using a CBD sleep oil. It’s an organic product derived from the cannabis plant (though it is not psychoactive like marijuana) and can help to regulate your natural sleep schedule.

Most people who do not consider themselves to be morning people identify instead as night owls—meaning you’re probably staying up much later than you should, hence your morning grogginess. CBD oil can help you fall asleep more easily so you can get a full night’s sleep to set you up for success in the morning. Here are some things on transitioning into becoming a morning person.

Learn Your Sleep Chronotype

Every individual has their own specific circadian rhythm and sleep drive, both of which control your sleeping habits and patterns. If you can tap into these processes, you can better understand when and how you sleep, allowing you to exert more control over your sleeping habits. Clinical psychologist and sleep specialist Dr. Michael Breus created this theory by studying people’s sleeping habits and determining four major “types” people typically fall under. However, people’s sleep chronotypes tend to change over time. For example, as we age, we tend to shift into the lion chronotype—this group is the early risers.

Finding out your sleep chronotype can help you understand when your body is releasing certain hormones like melatonin that help you fall asleep at night and cortisol and other hormones to wake you in the morning. If you understand your chronotype, you can set a sleep schedule that works for you and helps you feel more well-rested in the morning. Following a regular bedtime/wake-up routine helps regulate your circadian rhythm, increasing the quality of your sleep and your overall productivity throughout the day.

Use CBD Sleep Oil for Relaxation

Most people have trouble waking up early in the morning because they have difficulty falling asleep at a reasonable time each night. The average adult needs seven or eight hours of sleep each night, so if your goal is to wake up by 8 a.m. each morning, you should be asleep by no later than midnight. For most people, sleep doesn’t come the moment your head hits the pillow though, so set your bedtime for an hour earlier to give yourself time to relax. When you use CBD oil for sleep, it can help to encourage those feelings of calmness that make it easier to drift off.

Avoid Blue Light at Night

The blue light emitted by our phones is actually known to help stimulate our brains and energize us, which can be useful if you’re trying to work or do something else productive during the day, but staring at this light before bed can, and often does, make it tough to fall asleep because your brain is stimulated by the light emitting from your phone. Try to make it a habit to put your phone or computer away and turn off the TV between 30 and 60 minutes before going to bed. You can replace this nighttime activity with something else like reading a book to help encourage your brain to get ready for rest.

Create a Morning Routine

You can easily create a powerful morning routine in five steps, but it’s important to stick to your new routine. Determine a reasonable time to wake up each morning and make an effort to actually get up on your first alarm. Then, try integrating other habits into your morning routine, such as eating a nutritious breakfast and perhaps doing an activity you enjoy, like reading the paper or a few pages in a book, watching the morning news or even simply writing a to-do list for the day. This will help your brain begin to wake up and prioritize your responsibilities. The more you stick to your routine, the easier it will become.

Put Your Alarm Clock Across the Room

If you’re the kind of person who is always hitting the snooze button several times before you actually get up—even if you do it unintentionally and half-asleep—then this is a tip you might need to try. Setting your alarm clock across the room so you have to get up to turn it off is one of the best ways to get yourself out of bed and moving in the morning. True, you can still get up and hit the snooze button, but getting in and out of bed a few times will become tedious quickly and, once you’re up, you might as well start your day.

Exercise in the Morning

If you’re already a naturally groggy person in the morning, the sound of exercising right after you wake up may sound absolutely exhausting. And, it can be tricky to motivate yourself enough to work out, especially while adjusting to a new morning routine. But once you get yourself to do it, you’ll feel the effects immediately. Exercising in the morning can make you feel more awake and get your workout in early so you have the remainder of the day to do whatever else you need to accomplish. You don’t even need to leave your house to get your morning workout in. Check out some tips on how to stay motivated to work out from home, and try slowly implementing this into your new morning routine.

Embrace the Mornings

The idea of waking up earlier might sound daunting to you, but it can also help you to feel productive and enhance the overall quality of your sleep. If you find yourself always snoozing your alarm over and over in the mornings or waking up with feelings of grogginess, you may need to make changes to your sleep patterns to help yourself feel more well-rested and happy. Using CBD tincture for sleep can help encourage feelings of calm and relaxation at night before you lie down for bed. Combined with other tips, like avoiding blue light or sticking to a regular bedtime schedule, you’ll notice a boost in your energy and a greater sense of motivation throughout the day.
