Going To a Festival? Ways To Keep Your Makeup Heat, Sweat, and Oil Proof

The time of summer music festivals is finally here. And even though I enjoy letting loose, dancing, and just experiencing the music, I don’t want to compromise on a full face of glam. No matter how much you sweat, or how hot and humid the weather is – there are still ways in which your makeup can look flawless throughout the whole concert. Here are some of our favorite tips when it comes to festival makeup.

Not to Prime is a Crime

Let me make one thing clear, I usually don’t bother with primer. Especially when it comes to my everyday makeup look. But if I want my makeup to last, even when I’m dancing in the summer heat, I’ll definitely whip out a lightweight and oil-free primer from my makeup collection. Essentially, you want something that will leave you with a slightly sticky base. This will help the rest of your products to stick to your face better. If you’re oily, you can also add a mattifying primer to your T-zone.

Use Waterproof Makeup

Waterproof makeup is a must-have during festivals, especially if you plan on dancing in the sun. Use waterproof mascara, eyeliner, and brow products that won’t smudge or run, even if you sweat. Similarly, opt for waterproof or long-wear foundation and concealer. But don’t forget about sunscreen too – using a waterproof sunscreen will ensure that your skin stays safe no matter how much you sweat. To reapply it over makeup, you can look for a sunscreen spray or stick.

Layer Cream and Powder Products

Layering cream and powder products is a complete game changer when it comes to making your makeup last longer and stay in place. Start with a cream blush and/or bronzer. They will sculpt your face in a natural way while giving you a glowy base to work with. Follow it up with a powder blush and/or bronzer, which will add staying power and set the cream product. Similarly, use a cream highlighter followed by a powder highlighter to give your skin a radiant, long-lasting glow.

Baking is Essential

Baking your makeup is a great way to ensure that it stays put throughout the festival. Apply a thick layer of translucent powder to your under-eye area, T-zone, and any other areas where you tend to get oily. Leave it on for a few minutes, and then dust it off with a fluffy brush. Baking helps to set your makeup and prevent any creasing or smudging. While this isn’t something that I enjoy doing in my everyday makeup routine, I definitely do see a difference in how long my makeup lasts and actually looks good.

Drench Your Face in Setting Spray

Setting spray is a game-changer when it comes to making your makeup last all day. And when I say that you should drench your face in setting spray after finishing your makeup look, I really mean it. However, not any setting spray will do the trick. You have to look for something with ingredients that actually help your makeup last longer, such as PVP. This will help to seal your makeup and prevent it from melting or fading, even in the heat.

Touch Up with Blotting Papers and Pressed Powder

Blotting papers and pressed powder are lifesavers when it comes to keeping your makeup looking fresh during a festival. Blotting papers help to absorb any excess oil or sweat, while pressed powder can be used to touch up your makeup throughout the day. Simply dab the blotting papers on any areas where you feel oily or sweaty, and then apply a light dusting of pressed powder to set your makeup and keep it looking flawless.
