Chanel got her start in Paris, where she sold hats and made clothing at just 20 years old. In 1920 she launched the famed Chanel No. 5, which was the first perfume to feature a designer name and has outlived it’s day in time as it remains one of the best selling perfumes today. Chanel expanded her brand to include collarless suit jackets and fitted skirts, and continued to change the name of feminine fashion for women until her death in ’71.
