Are you planning a vacation? If so, then you might have fashion on the mind, and Viva Glam has prepared a quick list of our favorite spots to visit around the world. If you don’t have one of these locales on your itinerary, then you might want to start questioning what you’re doing! Let’s go over a few of the best cities in the world for fashion – some of them might just surprise you.
Paris
Paris is a beautiful city that has managed to stand the test of time and has recovered from trauma many times over. Today, Paris participates in the ‘Big 4’, four major fashion shows that occur all over the world, but to be honest, Paris’s fashion shows have been around for hundreds of years. The hottest thing right now is the Paris Fashion Week, the dates of which are determined by the French Fashion federation. Fashion Week isn’t just in one place .¨ it’s held throughout the entirety of the city, and you can bet that all of the greatest designers will have a stake in it.
New York
New York is one of the ‘Big 4’ for Fashion Week, and as a cutting edge city, you can expect it to bring some of the most amazing, and latest fashions with their best foot forward. New York has always been considered a melting pot, ever since Annie Moore first set foot on Liberty Island, so you can expect a sampling of the greatest styles from all over the world.
London
We can’t say enough about London; it’s home of the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and most importantly, London Fashion Week which takes place in February and September. It’s one of the ‘Big Four’ that we keep mentioning, and it’ worth visiting. Unlike the Paris show, it’s actually on a set schedule so you can plan your vacation around it.
Rome
While Rome isn’t considered one of the ‘Big 4’, it has plenty of amazing fashions to check out. If you’re in the area around April 3 to April 7, 2017, then it would definitely be a great idea to check out the Rome Fashion Week. Designers from all over the world will be stopping by to show off their threads, and you can expect so much more! Photographers, filmmakers, makeup artists, and all other manner of personalities will be present. Will you?
Milan
Once again we have one of the big four, and while Milan has a bit of a spotted history, it’s had one of the biggest turnarounds in recent history. Don’t forget to visit the Flower Burger, one of the area’s best vegan restaurants while you’re here for Milan Fashion Week in 201.
Barcelona
If this city is known for anything, it’s known for the culture, but the fashion is second to none. From beautiful outdoor markets to hot events like the Fashion Week, you’re sure to get your fill of new styles and the hottest fabrics. If you’re thinking of tying the knot anytime soon, don’t forget to check out the Barcelona Bridal Week.
Vietnam
There’s a big problem with Vietnam, and it’s that too many westerners dismiss it. Seriously guys, the country has come a LONG way since the Vietnam war and it’s NOTHING like the depictions in various war movies. Vietnam is a beautiful, modernized country and the fashion is incredible. Asian fashion trends are booming in the eastern world, and if you want to see some amazing styles, stop by the Vietnam International Fashion Week sometime.
Tokyo
Just like Vietnam, Tokyo does a great job of showcasing Asian culture and in an unprecedented move promoting diversity, Tokyo recently hosted the first ever fashion show for Muslim women, putting modesty front and center.
Madrid
Madrid is one of the most well known cities in Spain, and it is also well known for its street fashion. While not expressly a part of the ‘big 4’, it does have its own fashion week, showcasing many of the greatest designers.
Dubai
Dubai is a Middle Eastern city, but it is highly westernized and showcases some of the most amazing architecture in the world – it’s definitely a place that you will want to visit at some point in the near future! Arab Fashion Week and Runway Dubai are two great examples of events you won’t want to miss out on.
Wherever you roam, there will always be fashion to see and new things to experience. Visit one of the Glam approved cities and your mind will be blown.
