BLOGGER/GIRLBOSS

How often do you shoot for the blog? When did you get your husband and son to join in on the fun?

It depends on the week. When I have a lot of deadlines and projects due, sometimes I shoot almost every day but it’s usually about three times a week. When my blog became more of a full time thing, I started to share more of my personal life; it felt natural for Cody and the kids to make appearances. Then Cody launched his own blog, Hello His, in February of 2015 so we’ve been shooting more projects together since then.

Your husband is also a fashion blogger. Does it ever get competitive in the house or do you inspire each other to stay chic?

Cody and I have worked together since the day we met and have been involved in working for or running different businesses together since the day we met; it feels natural to work together on our blogs, too! It’s funny because we both get competitive with most other things, but when it comes to work and our blogs it’s never felt like anything other than teamwork. We are always excited to help each other and are always bouncing ideas off of each other. He’s probably so tired of helping me choose between two (almost identical) pictures to post to Instagram, but he never complains and is always so supportive. Our perspectives complement each other well and we do some of our best work together.

Do you feel under pressure to always be presentable because of your profession?

Yes and no. I am the first to admit that there are days you’ll find me in sweats and yesterday’s makeup. It’s funny because it’s always the days that I don’t even look in the mirror before I leave the house that I run into people who follow my blog while I’m out at the grocery store or running errands (with slept-in mascara under my eyes or while my kids are having a meltdown in the middle of Target). I think a lot of people see that side of me on Snapchat so it’s not a total shocker when they run into me when I’m not dressed up. It’s feels more like irony than pressure but that’s life: nobody’s perfect!
