Activewear can be a touchy issue for many women. If it’s too tight, it can be unflattering and show all of the problem areas you’re trying to work off. If it’s too loose, you can look twice your size. When you finally find the activewear that fits you right, you never want to take it off, even if it isn’t appropriate for dinner out with the girls. But now “Dancing with the Stars” favorite, “I Can Do That” star, and Viva Glam cover model Cheryl Burke, has created an activewear line that’s available in sizes
XXS to 3X AND can transition from the gym to whatever else you have planned that day. Now available on QVC, with a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, you’re bound to find the perfect fit at an affordable price. Luckily, Cheryl told us about her inspiration for the line and why every woman in your family will want a piece of cee bee.
Q&A with Cheryl Burke
Who or what inspired you to create your own activewear line?
I live in activewear, especially doing “Dancing with the Stars.” Nowadays, even a sports bra is so expensive and I wanted to have an affordable activewear line for the everyday woman. My motivation was to make clothing you can be active in, but you also don’t have to be active in this line. It’s all about layers and color blocking – you can even match it with jeans and wedges.
As you are an athlete, what is most important to you when you choose your own activewear? How did you incorporate that into your line?
For me, as an athlete, it was essential to be comfortable but to also be able to go out wearing the clothes as well, because I live such a busy lifestyle, and so does the everyday woman!
It’s important to be able to run from what you’re doing to possibly dinner afterwards.
As you provide a range of sizes from XXS to 3X, how did you keep that in mind when you designed the collection? How did it affect the shapes or colors you chose?
I feel like I’ve been very open about body image issues, and it was important to me to have those sizes so that every woman can feel beautiful and comfortable in cee bee.
Within your collection, you showcase vibrant colors and prints, that are bold but never too loud. How did you go about choosing them?
The color blocking helps with the fact that it’s not too loud. Every season, there’s new colors and trends and I kind of just go through magazines and see what’s in that season. I used to always wear black and was terrified of color, but this line is created to give the illusion of slimmer legs and smaller waists because of the color blocking.
What are you favorite items to wear in your collection?
I love the black water resistant hoodie, the color block ankle pants in blue, and the racerback tank with the front zipper.
How would you describe the kind of woman who wears cee bee CHERYL BURKE?
The everyday woman that just wants to look cute and be comfortable at the same time. She wants to stay active and stay moving but also be able to pick up her kids or go to church or go out with friends. This activewear line is for the everyday woman that’s on the go or that just wants to look good and feel good even just doing chores around the house.
