Are Casinos Really that Glamorous as One Might Think?

Most people see casinos as an equivalence of glamour. We should by no means blame them since this is exactly the picture casino owners intend to send to the public. The whole industry is massive and the influence it has is stronger than you think. This is why we create a picture of the handsome men wearing penguin suits and expensive watches and the prettiest women in fancy dresses wobbling around the glamorous casino floors.

To be fair, you could run into such sights at some of the most famous Las Vegas or Monte Carlo casinos. The reality in most of these gambling establishments is somewhat different. Well, much more different than you think. Most people who visit a brick-and-mortar casino for the first time get an unexpected and unpleasant experience that arose as a consequence of their previous disillusions. We have decided to help you all by providing a much more realistic picture of everyday casinos in present times in most parts of the planet (there are always exceptions).

Here are some of the main reasons why casinos are actually not that glamorous as you might think:

1 – The Drunks

There is a huge difference between a fashionable man who plays blackjack while enjoying his glass of whiskey and casually chats with the most beautiful dealer in the world on your favorite casino commercial and reality. The first thing you will notice when you enter a real-world casino is how crowded it is. Sadly, a solid portion of people in that crowd is drunks. Although there are exceptions of the casinos that do not tolerate inebriation, most of them encourage it.

If you are against having a bunch of drunks around you (we don’t blame you), you always have the option to stay home, log in to your NJ online casino account, and play your favorite slots or live-dealer games there. If you don’t mind it, you can then join the party and take advantage of complimentary drinks yourself. When we say that casinos encourage people to drink alcohol, they do so drop their players’ guard in the hope they would then care less about the money they spend there. Usually, it works out well for the house, but sometimes their security needs to react.

2 – Audience & Noise

When you think of playing roulette or blackjack at a land-based casino, you probably imagine a quiet and relaxing atmosphere in a separate room where you’ll have peace and be able to make rational calls. In most casinos, you will not get such an experience. Instead, you are much more likely to have complete strangers carefully watching every move you make while standing just above your head. Moving forward, the more crowded the area is the more noise it creates. To cut the story, at a brick-and-mortar casino you can be distracted by as many things/people as you can imagine.

3 – Smoke

Although some casinos have installed special indoor areas for smokers within their establishments, in most land-based gambling hubs you just can’t escape the unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke. Once you leave the casino, your clothes and your hair will have that disgusting smell. While you are inside the casino, you will often see big clouds of cigarette smoke all over the place.

4 – Prices at the bar

We talked about free drinks casinos tend to offer to their guests in the section related to drunks. However, to earn the privilege of having complimentary food and drinks at the casino floor, you need to spend a considerable amount of money. If you don’t, you will in most cases need to pay for your drink at the bar. It is this part when you need to be ready for an unpleasant surprise as drinks/food at the casino bar are much more expensive than drinks you’d pay at a nearby pub/bar/restaurant.

Final words

We could write about many more reasons like special membership fees, security, darkness, intimidation, etc. but the aforementioned four represent the biggest distinction between the casino glamour we are constantly being served with and the reality.
