From Denmark’s legends of industrial design and
Sweden’s H&M and Alicia Vikander, to Norway’s
pastries and Edvard Munch’s paintings, Scandinavians have been responsible for giving the world many wonderful things. So, it is not surprising then that today’s style muses come from those distant and cold countries.
Fashion, and technology of course, have brought us closer to these women with whom we may have absolutely nothing in common. The affinity for a chic dress and beautiful things has reduced cultural barriers and language so women from all over the world can be inspired by these new style icons.
In the age of Instagram the borders are one or two clicks away and, therefore, the rest of the world is falling in the arms of this new wave of influencers. If the seductive French women had us with their Je ne sais quoi, what makes the Nordics so attractive is undoubtedly their savoir faire. Perfect representatives of the Hygge lifestyle (another gift from these lands), their styles are practical, colorful, and springy, risky when it comes to combinations, and filled with simple silhouettes.
A Touch of Excess, brought to you via Emili Sindlev
This Danish influencer’s instagram is the perfect combination of a love for fashion and fun, with the ideal amount of excess. Her Insta has moments that remind us of Carrie Bradshaw, and with that she’s one of the favorites of the fashion world.
An Aspirational Style, courtesy of Victoria Tornergen
What is the first thing that comes to mind when reading the word “Swedish“? Blonde hair, long legs, and blue eyes, right? Take all this to a millennial aesthetic and you have Victoria Tornergen. Her enviable closet mixes classic styles with rocker accessories, and a fair dose of Balenciaga. While her lifestyle is completely aspirational, you can emulate the way she dresses with more accessible pieces.
90s and Feminine Fashion, just like Caroline Brasch Nielsen
Of course, it helps to be a model, and one of the major ones at that. This 24-year-old Danish girl looks as good on street as she does on the catwalk, and has even been able to convince her followers that the next accessory will be a bath clamp. In her off-duty photos, she can be seen wearing looks influenced by the 90s, as well as very feminine outfits.
It’s All About Proportions, Thanks to Jeanette Friis Madsen
This fashion editor is a master playing with proportions and colors. If you love the oversized look, you must follow her.
Such beauty, grace, and style, right? We hope you found these women just as inspiring as we did.
