Welcome to The First Vegan Cheese Shop!

Is There Really a Dairy-Free, Vegan Cheese Shop? Yes, it’s Vromage!

Traditionally, cheese is the coagulation of milk protein, or casein. It can be made into a wide variety of colors, textures, and flavors. In fact, there are literally hundreds of varieties of cheeses from around the world. Man has loved cheese since the beginning of time; it literally predates recorded history.

Today however, we have been able to create vegan cheese, which is a dairy-free alternative to traditional cheese. It, like regular cheese, is also cultivated, fermented, and crafted. And in Los Angeles, you can find the first shop dedicated to vegan cheese, Vromage.

Created by founder Youssef Fahouri, Vromage opened in 2014 as an alternative for people seeking a dairy-free alternative. Vegan cheese is made from nuts and seeds. They use cashews, macadamias, pine nuts, pistachios, almonds, Brazil nuts, walnuts, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds. Then, the cheese is aged to perfection!

At Vromage, you can purchase cheese and also dine there as well. Items on the menu include mouthwatering open-faced sandwiches made with fresh French sourdough bread, veganzola, brie, or vromage blanc. And there’s even a Vromage pizza made on a crunchy cracker with mixed greens and veganzola, mozzarella, or Vromage blanc!
