WATCH: The 10 Most Memorable TRL Appearances

What are the most memorable Total Request Live appearances of all time?

If you grew up in the 90s and 2000s, you probably remember watching endless episodes of MTV’s Total Request Live. Every afternoon you could hardly wait to sit in front of the television after school with your friends to see who would come on.  Not only did you see the newest music videos, TRL also invited on some of the hottest artists to hang out as their daily guest!  These included musicians, actors and celebs like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and the Backstreet Boys among other late 90s and early 2000 stars!

You actually felt included in this show because it was interactive. You could call in or vote online and TRL played the 10 most requested videos of the day!

TRL ran on MTV until 2008 and ended then with a three-hour finale, Total Finale Live.  Well, now TRL has returned! That’s right, TRL came back on October 2nd of this year!  There will be some slight changes however.  The old version focused 100% on music. The newer version will also include movies, television, and fashion.  It will emphasize today’s culture on the whole rather than just bands and music videos.

However, just like before, music videos will premiere on Total Request Live. But the countdown, when everyone called in to help their band win the top spot of the day, will no longer be a part of the format. This seems ironic as the countdown was one of the most important factors in the previous show.  Oh well, I guess change is good and we’re just happy to see TRL coming back for the fall lineup!

So, come with us as we take a look at the 10 most memorable Total Request Live appearances throughout the years. We’re certain you’ll remember a few of them.
