How to Throw an Unforgettable Viewing Party

In case you missed it, the Academy Awards are coming soon! We’re not sure we know anyone who doesn’t enjoy watching the Oscars. There’s a sense of wonder when we see them in their finest on the red carpet, hugged up on spouses, dining and drinking and enjoying the company of their celebrity peers. There’s always so much anticipation leading up to the event… why not create a fun event yourself to enjoy it with your friends? Here’s how you can throw an unforgettable viewing party.

Roll Out the Red Carpet

The Red Carpet is an inherent part of Awards Shows. It’s a must have. It’s what most of America loves to watch even more than the show itself. It’s where celebrities show off their outfits and their loved ones and their friends on their way into one of America’s most coveted events. It goes without saying that your viewing party should definitely have a red carpet, where you can let your friends show off their outfits, take selfies, and hang out before the big show.

Make it Formal

Okay so there’s something a little dull about watching the Awards show in jeans and a T-Shirt. Take your party to the next level by requiring black tie garb. Your friends will love the opportunity to get dressed up in their favorite fancy clothes… after all it’s not something they get to do every day!

Do Your Own Awards

Your friends might not expect it, but they’ll love it when you surprise them with their own awards! It’ll be a great add to the night when you pull out your own mic and begin presenting “best dressed”, “most dramatic”, and “most like an actual celebrity”. Have fun with it and get creative based on your crowd!

Signature Cocktails are a Must

Beer and wine are great for a regular party, but this is a special occasion… after all you and your friends will be dressed to the nines, so shouldn’t what you drink reflect that? Find fun drinks that have themes based on the nominated films, and get creative! If you’ve got a little extra to spend, hire a bartender for the night and enjoy the luxury of having someone else mix those drinks!

Go Beyond Regular Party Food

Don’t just do a veggie tray and a crockpot of meatballs… do what you can to dress it all up a bit. Instead of a fruit salad, buy some fresh strawberries and dip them in melted chocolate. With a few hours in the fridge, you’ll have beautiful chocolate covered strawberries that look like a lot more effort than they actually are.

At the end of the day, don’t stress out about it! Having the Awards show on and your friends around is all that matters.
