The Micro Purse that Rihanna, Gigi, Kendall and All the Influencers are Wearing Right Now

The world of fashion is filled with contrasts. One day, the XL bag is the queen of street style; the next, it is the return to the micro purse. Conventional logic can be challenged with this trend, because the minimum you can expect from a functional purse is to be able to carry all of your basics items such as keys, wallet, phone, and other objects that you could take with you throughout the day. And then you see major celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Kim Kardashian carrying a micro bag in their hands and you start questioning yourself whether you really need to carry so many things.

Talking about statement accessories often leads us to think about the extreme opposite: large and striking pieces. But this season, the statement comes in a minuscule proportion. The days of the macro bags, led by the Olsen twins, have remained in the past, at least during the first half of 2018.

Rihanna, as always, was one of the first people to adopt the trend with a yellow Jacquemus micro. The singer was quickly followed by “It Girls” Kendall Jenner, the Hadid sisters, Emily Ratajkowski, Hailey Baldwin, Romee Strijd, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, and Kim Kardashian. And we can only say one thing: the list will continue to grow.

The trend also talks about your ability to cut down to your basics; after all, if a man is able to spend a whole day with just his cell phone and wallet in his pants pocket, why do we need to carry so many things? The microscopic accessory seems to have space only for your cell phone, ID, credit card, and driver’s license, a lipstick and … do we need more? If Rihanna can survive a red carpet with just that, we can do it too on any given day.

And, if the size was not enough of a statement, then choosing the accessory in a bright color, a cruelty-free furry version, or with a striking application will always be an excellent choice. We decree it: you will be seeing this piece everywhere. It is no coincidence that all huge brands are making their most iconic bags in a micro version.
