Starbucks has unveiled a brand-new item!
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any tastier, Starbucks has just debuted a new item. But this latest meal addition is slightly different. What’s all the fuss about? It’s vegan!
Starbucks unveiled its latest food item, a vegan barbeque pulled wrap made with jackfruit. Starbucks has been listening to its consumers as one of the biggest trends of 2017 was adapting a plant-based diet. These new wraps are flying out of the stores!
This whole wheat seeded wrap contains carrot, pureed sweet corn slaw, spinach leaves, and pulled barbeque jackfruit. Jackfruit has long been used as a meat substitute because of its meat-like consistency and looks a lot like pulled pork once it’s cooked. After spices are added, it’s very difficult to tell that it’s not the real deal. Even meat-eaters have a hard time telling the difference between jackfruit and authentic pulled pork, so this wrap is ideal for people who want the satisfaction of traditional barbecue, but without the cruelty! Or if you just want a delicious and flavorful wrap.
In addition to their new barbeque jackfruit wrap, Starbucks also serves dairy free coffee, Barnana snacks (gluten-free, organic and cruelty-free snacks) and sweet vegan cupcakes (in Florida only).
But Starbucks isn’t the only chain that is adding more plant-based options to their menus and items to purchase. Trader Joe’s has a wide variety of items that are plant-based including a yellow jackfruit curry. And Mc Donald’s recently tested the new Mc Vegan burger in Europe.
The plant-based diet is only here to stay and we’re thrilled major international companies are taking notice.
