Soul Food Restaurant Opens In Miami’s All-Vegan Food Hall

Southern Sol Garden BBQ is bringing comfort soul food to The vShops, Miami’s all-vegan food hall which will open on September 8.

The new vegan soul food joint will bring a refreshing twist to the classic southern dishes with delicious plant-based versions. According to VegNews, the mission for restaurant’s founder Alex Cuevas, who has been vegan for 30 years and who opened The vShops back in April, was the opportunity to offer quality vegan food in a relaxed setting.

Cuevas felt inspired by all the vegan soul food from places such as North and South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. At Southern Sol, you can enjoy a menu that features tempting vegan protein options like BBQ tempeh, jackfruit, chik’n, and more plant-based barbecue meats, along with sides such as Baked Mac n’ Cheese, Grits & Collard Greens, and gluten-free Jalape‚àö¬±o Cornbread.

“You can still eat what you love, but honor your body, the environment, and the animals. Southern Sol Garden BBQ aims to help you on that quest. We are proudly part of the vShops Food Hall project, the first of its kind anywhere in the world!”

The food hall is also the place to find more Latin-influenced places such as Cafe, juice bar Neo’s Blender, ice cream shop Ice Dream Parlor, and pizzeria Next Generation Pizza.

For Cuevas, the original plan was to open six to seven vegan businesses but has expanded to include a total of 10 restaurants that will be operational by the end of the year

A place to change the way people consume food is among the main goals for Lori Sito,
The vShops president, and the hope is that its impact can be felt in Miami and beyond.

In an interview with Miami News Times, Sito remarked on the importance of attracting non-vegans to enjoy all the delicious plant-based dishes that the food hall can offer. “It has created an opportunity for vegans to feel safe bringing non-vegans without the risk of disappointing them,” said Sito. “And for us, the biggest win is when the non-vegan friend comes back on their own. The ripple effect can slowly change the world.”

Here’s hoping that more vegan food halls keep reaching more cities across America.
