The latest beauty trend you’ll try might be unisex shaving!
We’re all for women’s equality, but what do you think about shaving your face? Normally done by men only, women are now engaging in something that is usually associated with male grooming.
Most of us have been shaving parts of our bodies since puberty. We shave our legs and underarms daily. We also use other means of hair removal such as wax depilatory and threading for other parts of our bodies such as forearms, eyebrows, upper lips, and the bikini area. But could shaving our faces with a man’s razor become in vogue?
According to celebrity facialist, Kate Somerville, shaving with a man’s razor is not merely an alternative to waxing. In fact, she said, “Initially I did it because of the hair, but then I noticed that it was a great exfoliant and that my makeup went on a lot better.” She also said that movie stars like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor also shaved their faces on a regular basis.
Today, Michelle Money from “The Bachelor” also loves to shave her face and even did a YouTube tutorial on it!
Many hesitate to shave their faces because they’ve been told that when the hair grows back, it will be darker and thicker than before. Well, according to dermatologist Elizabeth K. Hale, it is not true. She said that Japanese women have been shaving their faces in a tradition called “kao sori” for years. And their hair doesn’t get thicker or darker.
I remember visiting a dermatologist who exfoliated my face with a razor. She used a straight razor and meticulously shaved every part of my face. It took an hour, but the results were amazing. My skin was soft as a baby’s bottom. And my makeup glided on after like silk. It took a long time, but it was certainly worth it!
