The Meyer’s family is getting bigger! Seth Meyers announced on Thursday’s episode of “Late Night” that he and his wife, human-rights attorney Alexi Ashe, is pregnant and expecting the couple’s second child.
The host made the announcement during a special Thanksgiving episode, alongside his parents, Larry and Hilary Meyers, and his brother Josh, who were his guests on the interview segment.
“I want to take this opportunity now, you guys obviously know, my wife and I are expecting a second baby,” the “Late Night” host said. “Very excited. Thank you! Very excited.”
His mother shared with the audience that Seth called her to give her the good news. “I get the phone call, and my Seth is sometimes a crier. He’s sobbing,” Hilary Meyers said. “He said, ‘Because for over a month, I’ve had to pretend that I don’t care what sex it is and I do care, I want a little boy!’”
The comedian, who welcomed his first baby, son Ashe in 2016, said: “That’s true, I really wanted a brother for my son because I was so lucky to have one.”
Meyers and Alexi Ashe got married in September 2013 in front of family and friends at Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. The Late Night host couldn’t hold back from commenting on his nuptials and shared a lovely moment back in 2014 of his wife trying on her wedding gown.
“I will never forget the first time she returned from her fitting because she was happier than I’ve ever seen her,” Meyers said at the time while attending a NYC luncheon. “Which was a little jarring for me because I had recently proposed to her. Turns out getting a ring from me is less exciting than having Carolina Herrera creating your dress.”
The happy news comes right after the announcement that the comedian is the chosen one to host 75th Annual Golden Globes Awards.
“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is excited to have Seth Meyers host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards,” HFPA President Meher Tatna said in a statement. “With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year.”
Meyers will be following in the footsteps of past Golden Globe Award hosts such as fellow SNL alumni Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey and British comedian Ricky Gervais.
