Dani Mathers will clean up the streets of LA as part of her punishment for posting a picture of a nude 71-year old woman online.
In a case that has garnered public attention for the past few months, Playboy Playmate of the Year 2015, Dani Mathers, was sentenced yesterday for taking a photo of a naked 71-year old woman in a gym locker room without her knowing it. Mathers then posted the image online. She pleaded no contest to a “misdemeanor invasion of privacy” in a Los Angeles County Superior Court.
This case caused outrage as many believed her behavior to be completely inappropriate. So much so that LA Fitness, the club where the incident took place, has barred her for life.
Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer said, “Body shaming can devastate its subject. People are mocked, they’re humiliated and in ways they can never fully get back.”
Dani’s attorney, Thomas Mesereau said, “She really apologizes from the bottom of her heart for what happened. She never thought this would come out like this. Never intended to hurt anyone.”
Dani was sentenced to clean up graffiti and was spared a jail sentence. She will also be on probation for three years and will not be allowed to take photos of people and post them online without their permission.
Earlier, defense lawyer, Dana Cole, had argued that the case should be dismissed because the 71-year old woman could not be easily identified as the image was slightly blurred. The judge denied this motion. This victim has still not been named.
Dani pleaded no contest meaning she does not admit guilt per se, but she does not dispute the charges brought upon her. What do YOU think? Do you think this is a harsh enough sentence for Dani Mathers? Or do you think she deserves jail time?
