Peace, Love and Tie-Dye

I came across this cool fabric remnant in the “remnant bin” in the fabric store while hunting for supplies for other DIY projects. It was too cool to leave behind, and for 50 cents it was a total steal. I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to use it when I got it but it didn’t take long for me to figure out. All I had to do was add one quick stitch and I had a cool headband. Moral of the story? A. Get out there and take a stab at some DIY stuff and B. NEVER neglect the remnant bin.

My passion and love for fashion and all things femme started at a very young age. Of course young girls always have someone to look up to growing up and for me (as silly as it may sound) it was my grandmother! I’m telling you this woman was the ultimate fashionista. So much in fact that I still have on at least one piece of hers on everytime I leave the house. You’ll come to notice that I have an endless passion for all things vintage and now you’ll understand why! My fashion sense and style was also heavily influenced by the years of modeling I did in my teens growing up. I frequented NYC and also travelled to Japan to pursue a career in the industry. Although I eventually chose academia over the glamour of the modeling industry the fashion tips and advice that I took away from that industry are invaluable. That brings me to where I am today! A recent graduate of The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA, I am currently working on my swimwear line “Lela Pearce” and writing for my personal blog Blonde and Hound as well as contributing as Fashion Editor for Viva Glam Magazine! I am very excited and honored to be sharing my personal fashion advice, tips, and picks with you through Viva Glam Magazine. In the words of the infamous Coco Chanel, “Fashion fades, only style remains the same”. I hope Viva Glam Magazine can help encourage new looks and ideas for your personal style!
