2017 is right around the corner and there is a common theme going around right now: hate. The world has never been more divided, and the same goes for The USA. The division has quite a few different roots, but most people would identify the problem as political.
Of course it goes beyond politics; at this point it has to do with what people stand for and how they feel about the rights of others. We’re not going to delve too deeply into it, but what we will say, is that you can counteract most of the hate…with love.
If It were So Simple
Want to know a fun truth? It IS that simple. Here’s the thing about hatred, even in today’s world: even if it happens to be everywhere, even if you’re completely surrounded by darkness, a single light can make a world of difference, and you know what the thing is about light? It catches on. We live in a world where people are encourage to be negative, and sometimes kindness is seen as a weakness, but that couldn’t be much further from the truth.
It takes far more strength to lend a helping hand than it does to put someone down, attack them, or deprive them of basic human necessities. So many people want to do good, but there are so many people who simply follow the crowd; don’t be one of them.
Controlling Your Actions and Projecting Love
If you want to control your actions as 2016 comes to a head and 2017 peeks around the corner, then you’re first going to need to get control of your thoughts, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be hard. The problem we all suffer from is negativity and I’m not just talking about the ‘big’ thoughts that pass through your mind. I’m talking about the little things. I’m talking about not getting the flavor of ice cream that you want, I’m talking about having to sit in traffic for an hour, I’m talking about breaking that lamp in your living room.
These all seem highly negative, but you know what? I bet you can find at least one positive in all of these situations, and that’s precisely where you will need to start. Turn the negatives into positives, and then turn those positives loose on the world.
In 2017 it will be of the utmost importance for all of us to practice acceptance. We are at a pivotal turning point in American history, and let’s be honest, you don’t want to be on the wrong side of it. The future of America is accepting of all people and cultures regardless of their race, their gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
In 2017 we need to come together as one race to overcome the overwhelming hatred that is beginning to overtake us. It’s time to become one people and speak the language of love.
