North Carolina Welcomes a New Vegan Grocery Store

Vegans of North Carolina, rejoice! Up Beet Market is Wilmington, North Carolina’s first ever all vegan market and it’s going to offer vegan and cruelty-free items. Clients can shop comfortably knowing everything is free of animal products.

According to VegNews, the owner, Jess Marler, decided to open the store in order to provide local vegans with everything they need in one location, instead of searching different stores or buying online. “It’s super frustrating when at the end of the day you want to pop in, grab a few things for a meal and go home,” Marler said. “You double all of your trips just trying to hunt down the vegan version.”

The store will offer cooking staples, snacks, home goods, and also there’s a vegan jerky display, a wide range of vegan cheese options, art pieces made by vegan artists, and even a Panacea Brewing Company kombucha filling station.

Marler hopes to soon feature a vegan gelato dipping station and offer more variety of produce. “I didn’t expect to have such a big following right when we opened the doors,” said the owner after the large turnout that has welcomed the market since opening day, 2 weeks ago.

Up Beet Market is located at 225 South Water Street, Wilmington, NC, 28401 and it is open every day from noon to 6 pm.
