Less is More! How to Achieve No Foundation Makeup!

Can YOU look flawless without foundation?

Unless you are miraculously blessed with perfect skin that is completely free of blemishes, most of us wear foundation when we put on our makeup. It provides a good base in which to apply the rest of our beauty products. And most people say it is an essential start to proper makeup application.

However, Lauren Curtis, an Australian beauty blogger, has recently shared her secret for glowing, picture perfect skin with no foundation! That’s right, Lauren has the tips on how to achieve the “less is more” look!

Lauren explained, “’I used to wear a full face of foundation and make up and now I hardly ever wear it unless I’m going out somewhere.” But she does apply product to her face because she said, “We can’t all be lucky enough to wake up in the morning and not have to worry about breakouts, dryness, dark circles, or dull-looking skin – some of us have to fake it till we make it.”

Lauren uses these simple steps for her morning routine to create a natural look without foundation. First, she moisturizes her skin. Lauren explained, “You can’t expect to have great skin if it’s not properly taken care of. It needs to be hydrated, nourished, and exfoliated. You need to use serums on it, moisturizers, eye creams, night creams. Whatever your skin needs, make sure you give it that.” She also believes it is more important to use moisturizer than primer and said, “The better you take care of your skin, the less you will need to ‘fake it’.”

Lauren doesn’t always opt for a primer, but when she does use one, she makes certain she doesn’t use too much. In regards to primer application, she said, “I like to use my hands for this so I can really work it in. It looks more natural that way instead of sitting on top of skin.”

Lauren uses concealer next to hide any blemishes she might have on her face. She uses her finger as a tool to massage the concealer into her face. This way, the product really gets into your skin and doesn’t just sit on top.

She also said you can apply highlighter to your skin if you want that extra brightness and shimmer on your skin. She applies it to her cheekbones, nose and cupid’s bow.

After highlighter, she said you can use powder if you want to ensure a matte finish. This is ideal if you have naturally oily skin. And she also applies mascara to her lashes.

Her final step is using lip balm. She said, “I can’t live without my lip balm. It hydrates my lips and adds a beautiful soft pink tint.” She applies it to her lips with her finger lightly so it performs like a stain.
