Kylie Jenner’s makeup is cruelty-free, but her new brushes are not.
Kylie Jenner has become a cosmetics mogul with her line of lip colors that have been extremely popular. However, her new brush set has not garnered the same amount of positive feedback. In fact, the popular reaction has been lukewarm for a few reasons.
First off, her new brush set costs…wait for it…$360.00! Yep, this price has shocked a lot of her fans. Sure, The Silver Series Brush Collection looks divine, but how many of her devotees are actually going to shell out this amount? Especially during the holidays?
Secondly, they are not cruelty-free. Although her makeup is, isn’t it ironic that her brushes are not? After all, isn’t the point of being cruelty-free is that no animals are harmed in the making of a product? Well, Kylie took to social media and tried to explain or justify her goat hair brushes. She said, “I have developed for you guys the most amazing luxury brushes ever. I am very excited! Real brushes don’t compare to synthetic brushes. Different performance/quality/everything.”
She went on to say that she might have a cruelty-free version of her brushes in the future by saying, “I am 100% down to do an entire synthetic line in the future which will ultimately be cheaper.”
Either way, fans are not happy that these brushes are super expensive. Also, for many who loved the fact her line was cruelty-free, they are disappointed that her brushes are not. And the fact that she is justifying the use of goat hair because synthetic brushes don’t perform as well, sort of defeats the purpose of her line not containing animal products. It should not contain animal products to help animals and not for any other reason.
Perhaps this might be the first Kylie product to not sell out overnight. What do YOU think?
