The life of celebrity makeup artist, Kevyn Aucoin, will be profiled in this upcoming LOGO Networks documentary.
Perhaps one of the most influential makeup artists of our generation was Kevyn Aucoin. Although he lived the life of glamour and excitement, he came from humble beginnings. Kevyn was raised in rural Louisiana where he used nothing but his fingers as tools to put makeup on his sisters. After, he would use a Polaroid camera to capture his work. This was something he continued to do throughout his career. In Louisiana, he was bullied for being gay. He moved from his rural hometown to Baton Rouge to begin his career. Then, he moved to New York City and became a highly sought after celebrity makeup artist. “KEVYN AUCOIN Beauty & The Beast In Me” offers never before seen footage of his life and moments of fashion and beauty during the 80’s and early 90’s.
In fact, if you grew up during this time, you might remember his ability to transform celebrities into beauty icons of the past. For example, Wynona Ryder became Liz Taylor, Jennifer Aniston transformed into Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli became Marilyn Monroe, Gina Gershon became Sophia Loren and Isabella Rossellini miraculously became 1920’s darling Clara Bow!
“KEVYN AUCOIN Beauty & The Beast In Me” also offers an insider’s glimpse into the lives of fashion and pop icons of the time such as Naomi Campbell, Cher, Cindy Crawford, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Andie MacDowell, Paulina Porizkova, Tina Turner, and Amber Valletta. In fact, some of the footage is from Kevyn’s personal videos and audiotapes that he took with his celebrity clients.
His untimely death at age 40 from a rare disease and his rise to celebrity makeup artist superstardom is seen through the eyes of his friends, clients, and fans.
KEVYN AUCOIN Beauty & the Beast in Me will premiere on the LOGO Network on Thursday, September 14th at 9PM ET/PT. The world premiere of this film was the Documentary Centerpiece at The Outfest Film Festival on July 7th, 2017.
