Kelly Clarkson’s L.A. Home Was Targeted by Robbers

Kelly Clarkson made headlines this week after her hilarious segment in James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” and her win at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music Award for less happy reasons.

While on the red carpet for the award show, were Kelly was going to receive the Powerhouse Award, the singer revealed a mix of happy and unfortunate news.

“Other than we got robbed last night… Yeah, it was crazy, we got here and our whole house was like bashed in, it was crazy,” The American Idol winner said.

Clarkson didn’t mentioned if she had filed a police report or whether something of value was lost in the incident: “Materialistic things we didn’t care about, the guy was in our kids’ room… so it was a little weird, other than that everyone is safe and good.”

But the artist didn’t want that event to overshadow the rest of her evening. “Other than that little hiccup everything has been really great in our lives, and we’re very blessed and grateful,” Clarkson said. “In that scenario, we weren’t in the house—which is a blessing.”

The Since U Been Gone singer received the Powerhouse Award, accepting it from former Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland. She also performed “Meaning of Life,” the title track from her eighth studio album.

“I want to lift up and support everyone,” she said, rejecting stereotypes that pit female artists against other female artists. “Accept the fact that there is room for everyone. There’s room for both of us.”

Clarkson also praised Pink, who she performed with at the American Music Awards, and who is also a Billboard honouree.

“I just want to talk about the women who really inspired me to be a singer and to be motivated,” Kelly said in her speech. “And be progressive with (my) sound, and Pink is one of those people. I was so excited to perform with her because I was such a huge fan of hers since the ’90s.

“It was more or less a positive situation of women coming together and not getting pitted against each other. I’m so tired. I’m so tired as a mother by watching it.” Clarkson concluded, “We’ve got to start respecting each other first and not with the beef… There are so many women before us that work so hard for us to have these opportunities and these blessings bestowed upon us.”

The singer is also enjoying the success from her latest work, since her single, “Love So Soft,” was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2018 Grammys, where it’ll be competing against Kesha’s “Praying,” Lady Gaga‘s “Million Reasons,” Pink’s “What About Us” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.”
