How to Find Your Purpose in Life

Purpose in Life

Unfortunately, life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, and as a result, it can be very difficult for us to find our purpose as it were. Don’t worry if you’re feeling this way; you’re not alone. There are SO many other people who are in the same boat, and if you’re like most others then you’ve spent some time trying to find your purpose, only to be thwarted again and again. There is no real five step method to figuring this out, but we can give you one piece of advice.

Taking that First Step

First steps are always a doosy, we’re not going to sugarcoat it. It becomes especially troublesome in this case, but you know what? It all boils down to one thing: learning to live outside your personal bubble.

Like many other people, you spend so much time trying to please others and trying to maintain your self-image. Yep, you don’t want to look bad, and so you play it safe, all the time. Sure, you probably won’t make a fool out of yourself, but will you really be living? Absolutely not. So what else is wrong with the bubble? When you spend too much time worrying about yourself and your image, you’re going to take insults very, very personally. It will make your daily life very hard, and it’s not something that you want to handle. Stepping outside the bubble can help you immensely.

Getting out of the Bubble

As we pull ourselves out of the bubble, we see things from a much less selfish approach, and when someone says, well, anything, we tend to not take it personally. That’s always a plus.

We also begin to see that personal desires are very trivial compared to the rest of the world, which opens our mind to a whole world of possibilities – that’s pretty amazing if we do say so ourselves.

Seeing the World

Once we get out of the bubble we start to see the world in a very different way. We see the needs of others and we feel their suffering. We can work to make the lives of others better, and we can spend time learning the skills necessary to do so. As the world finally opens up to you, you will begin to see things very differently, and it won’t be too long before you truly do discover your purpose in life.

A Work in Progress

Getting out of the bubble is going to take some work – it’s not as easy as just stepping out. First you need to acknowledge that you ARE stuck inside it. When you find yourself frustrated, angry, anxious, fearful, or even hurt, it’s a clear sign that you are in fact the center of your own universe. Try to see the bigger picture, and try to see how things affect more than just you. Wish others happiness, and try to accept that your purpose in life is to help others reach the same enlightenment while bettering their life. You have a long journey ahead of you, but it’s worth it.
