Gorgeous 1960’s Fashion in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Hold on to your hats, Ladies, because Guy Ritchie’s new film, “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” is promising a wild ride from beginning to end. This action film is based on the hugely popular 1960’s television series that starred Robert Vaughn as the protagonist, Napoleon Solo.
Now starring Henry Cavill, Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Debicki, this updated version pays homage to the memorable styles of the 1960’s.
Costume designer Joanna Johnston created classic and fiercely stylish costumes for Debicki that were consistent with her character. Debicki collaborated with Johnston to create a striking black-and-white signature look that was extremely polished and edgy.
“Victoria’s clothes represent the best of ’60s fashion,” says Debicki, ‘”she’s quite a fan of bling and belts and, because she’s so wealthy, we felt there needn’t be any limit. Plus, being the villain means you can do whatever you please.”
Actress Vikander said, “I came in for a few fittings, which is a great way to get into character, and Joanna let me be a part of the process. She brought in mood boards with pictures and ideas. And it’s easy to let your imagination and fantasies take over. I saw one amazing dress with an open back that I liked, and the next time I came in, it was there.”
We look forward to these dramatic, 1960’s fashion forward styles in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” premiering August 14, 2015!
